A “brown bag” session will follow, so bring your supplements, vitamins, prescription and over-the-counter meds with you. The Heartbreak of Heart Burn Noon • Monday March 25 One in 10 Americans experience heartburn symptoms at least once a week. Are you one of them? Do you get that sour taste, chronic cough or painful burning sensation in your chest after meals? If so, consider joining a registered nurse for a discussion on Reflux (also called Heartburn). Discussion will include the origin of heartburn, the signs and symptoms, who is at risk, complications, management and treatment options. Medicare, Do You Know? 6:30 p.m.• Tuesday, March 26 Do you understand Medicare parts A, B, C and D? Do you understand Medigap Plans, Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans? Putting “Life” Back into Your Life: Living Healthy With Diabetes 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.• Beginning Wednesday, April 24 (six-week program) Are you an adult with diabetes? Please join us for a Diabetes Self Management Workshop. Each participant will receive a copy of the workbook, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions and an audio relaxation tape. Subjects covered include: 1) techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, fatigue, pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress, and emotional problems such as depression, anger, fear and frustration; 2) appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance; 3) healthy eating 4) appropriate use of medication; and 5) working more effectively with healthcare providers. Participants will make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management program.
