01 Artist impression

Architecture by Buchan Group defines a modern centre-piece of Carnegie’s

retail and residential neighbourhoods. The 12 level design features just

152 apartments to allow for a selection of larger floorplans and extended private

balconies that reimagine outdoor living. The sculpted terrace form maximises

exposure to the views and increases the scale for coveted gardens to bring

subtle layers of greenery into the design. To complement a superior level

of design, private pergolas are included to select outdoor terraces as standard.

The building’s lineal form is softened by curving, glazed and rendered balconies

and a recessed central component with protected outdoor zones that are

set within the design. A natural material and colour palette has been inspired

by local parkland. Corridors to every level are bookended by full-height windows

connecting residents and visitors to the outdoors at every point of their journey.

The upper two levels sit back within bronzed metal pods which feature timber

look lining to the balcony providing an organic accent. The balcony design

increases privacy and protection from the elements and extends the already

spacious living zones.

Architectural and design choices show a deeper understanding of the needs of

been introduced at every turn, and uninterrupted connections from inside to out

offer greater flexibility across living spaces. Walls of windows allow spectacular

views to take centre stage so a modern material palette has been carefully pared

back to calm the space using tonal greys and whites, warmed by wood grain finish

cooking, weekend entertaining and socialising. Quiet shades of grey pair with

seamless lengths of stone and flush joinery to open the space and connect to

the living areas. A suite of Smeg appliances are integrated within custom-made,

full-height cabinetry that conceals abundant storage, including walk-in pantries

to select apartments. Colour scheme options of cool or light pair with ageless

finishes to build on a crisp white base with glimpses of contrast introduced

through simple chrome accents and with an optional upgrade of an elegant,

linear pendant light suspended above the kitchen island.

A classic, open design flow is emphasised by consistent use of large format tile

work across both floors and walls to increase a sense of depth. The frameless

shower, under-mount dual basins, wall-mount joinery and mirrored cabinetry

visually expand the area while keeping lines clean and subdued. The polished

chrome tapware incorporated into opposing ends of the stone-top vanity is a less

conventional design touch, also allowing for increased set down space. The focus

on function continues with extra storage appointed within the floating vanity.

A series of cascading sky terraces take outdoor living to another level.

Architecture is bold and carefully considered to provide residents with

exceptional views, large homes and expansive outdoor terraces that sit

comfortably within their local urban surrounds. Pushing the boundaries

of conventional apartment design, select terraces can nearly double the

size of an apartment and feature a private pergola as one of the many

premium yet standard inclusions.

Through a subtle stepped form, inner and outer environments cross and

flow, united in their connection to the environment. Thoughtful planning

maximises on aspect and orientation so natural light engulfs the interiors

A landmark design references the character of the neighbourhood using gently

receding forms and natural tonal variations to bring a confident modern identity

to the precinct. At ground level, 8 retailers and eateries extend Koornang

Road’s energetic street vibe. Set subtly apart, a discreet lobby entrance

transitions from the street to an inviting arrival space and wait lounge with

a soaring urban forest within.

The 12 residential levels rise above, featuring 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments

and a landscaped rooftop retreat across the 10th level with an infinity edge

pool, gymnasium and private outdoor lounge and dining spaces. The underground

car park provides for a minimum of one car park per apartment plus bicycle

bays and lockable storage, all set in secure surrounds and directly accessible

from every level.

As one of Victoria’s most significant transport works, the government upgrade

of Melbourne’s busiest rail corridor includes a new train station and skyrail

for Carnegie. The elevated station and train line allows for two new public

access points and the installation of modern station amenities including new

bathrooms, wait areas, canopied platforms, ample commuter parking, bike

hoops and secure storage. The ground level crossing removal will result in less

traffic congestion and more outdoor public space and Carnegie will be well

placed for the use of high capacity metro trains planned for the future.

A $1.6B transport upgrade will allow Carnegie to have a new, elevated train station featuring a skyrail and modern amenity direct to Melbourne’s CBD.
