Operation1. Donot puthands andfeet near rotatingpartsor in the

feedingchambersand dischargeopening.Contactwith therotatingimpellercanamputatefingers, hands,andfeet.

2. Beforestartingthe machine,makesurethe chipperchute,feed intake,and cuttingchamberare empty andfree of alldebris.

3. Thoroughlyinspectall materialto beshreddedand removeany metal,rocks,bottles, cans,orotherforeignobjectswhich couldcausepersonalinjuryor damageto themachine.

4. Ifthe impellerstrikesa foreignobject or if your machineshould start makinganunusualnoiseor vibration,immediatelyshut theengineoff.Allowthe impellerto cometo a completestop.Disconnectthe sparkplugwire,grounditagainstthe engineandperformthe followingsteps:a. Inspectfor damage.

b. Repairor replaceanydamagedparts.

c. Checkfor any loosepartsand tightento assurecontinuedsafeoperation.

5. Donotallow anaccumulationof processedmaterialto buildup inthe dischargearea.Thiscan preventproperdischargeand result in kickbackof materialthroughthefeed opening.

6. Donotattemptto shredorchip materiallargerthanspecifiedon the machineor inthis manual.Personalinjuryor machinedamagecouldresult.

7. Neverattemptto unclogeitherthe feed intakeordischargeopeningwhilethe engine is running.Shutthe engineoff,wait until all movingparts havestopped,disconnectthespark plugwire andground it againsttheenginebeforeclearingdebris.

8. Neveroperatewithoutvacuumbagand dischargechuteproperlyattachedto the machine.Neveremptyor changevacuumbagwhilethe engine is running.Zipperedendof vacuumbag mustbekeptclosedat all times duringoperation.

9. Neveroperatewithouteitherthe inlet nozzleoroptionalhoseattachmentproperlyattachedto the machine.Neverattemptto attach orchangeeitherattachmentwhiletheengine is running.

10.Keepall guards,deflectorsand safetydevices in placeandoperatingproperly.

11.Keepyourface andbody backand to theside ofthe chipperchute whilefeedingmaterialintothe machineto avoidaccidentalkickbackinjuries.

12.Neveroperatethis machinewithoutgoodvisibility or light.Alwaysbesure of yourfootingand keepa firm holdon thehandles.

13.Donotoperatethis machineon a gravelsurface.

14.Donotoperatethis machinewhile underthe influenceofalcohol ordrugs.

15.Mufflerandenginebecomehotandcan causea burn.Donot touch.

16.Neverpickupor carry machinewhilethe engine is running.

Maintenance & Storage1. Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir proper

operationregularly.2. Checkboltsand screwsfor propertightnessat frequent

REMOVING THE FLAIL SCREEN

If the dischargeareabecomesclogged,removethe flailscreenandcleanareaas follows:

1. Stop theengine.Makecertainthe chipper/shreddervacuumhascometo a completestop.

2. Beforeuncloggingthe dischargechute,disconnectand groundthe sparkplugwire to retaining post.

3. Removethe vacuumbagor blowerchute(ifequipped)fromtheunit as instructedin the OPERA-TION sectionto obtainaccessto flail screen.

4. Removeself tappingscrewon right sideof unit thatattachesto the flail screen.See Figure5-1.

5. Removehex screwon topof rearhousingnearmountingbracketandtheflange locknutthatsecuresflail screen.SeeFigure5-1.

6. Removeandcleanthe screenby scrapingor wash-ingwithwater.SeeFigure5-2.

7. Reinstallthescreen.

d. Service completed by someone other than an authorized servicedealer.
