VolcanoesA volcano is a type of mountain. It has an opening and lava from below the surface of the Earth comes out of it. When there is a lot of pressure, this makes the volcano erupt. When the Volcano erupts, gases and rock come out of the Volcano.

Volcanoes are formed when magma from the inside of Earth makes it way to the outside surface. When this reaches the surface, it erupts. Lava and ash will come outof the volcano. As the volcano continues to erupt, it gets bigger.

With a partner, use a dictionary to define and fill in the vocabulary words:

2. Pressure:_______________________________

3. Erupt:_________________________________

4. Gases:_________________________________

Why volcanoes Erupt:Earth’s outside crust is made up of tectonic plates, sometimes just called plates. These plates fit together like a puzzle. Sometimes these plates will move. When they move, they touch and hit each other. This causes earthquakes and volcaniceruptions.

Facts: There are more than 1500 active volcanoes on Earth. 80 volcanoes are under the ocean In the United States, volcanoes can be found in Hawaii,

Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington. Largest active volcano is Mauna Loa in Hawaii.

Do you want to go see the Mauna Loa volcano?

Project 3 Volcano Song & DanceDisney Music: Lava (Official Lyric Video from “Lava)Disney Music. (2015, September 16). Disney Music--- Lava (Official Lyric Video from “Lava”) [Video]. YouTube.

Lyrics:A long long time agoThere was a volcanoLiving all alone in the middle of the seaHe sat high above his bayWatching all the couples playAnd wishing that he had someone too

And from his lava cameThis song of hope that he sang out loud

Every dayFor years and yearsI have a dream

I hope it will come trueThat you're here with meAnd I am here with youI wish that the earth, sea, andthe sky up aboveWill send me someone to lava

Years of singing all aloneTurned his lava into stoneUntil he was on the brink of extinction

But little did he knowThat living in the sea belowAnother volcanoWas listening to his song

Everyday she heard his tuneHer lava grew and grewBecause she believed his song was meant for herNow she was so ready to meet him above the seaAs he sang his song of hope for the last time

I have a dreamI hope it will come trueThat you're here with meAnd I am here with you

I wish that the earth, sea, andthe sky up aboveWill send me someone to lavaRising from the sea belowStood a lovely volcanoLooking all aroundBut she could not see himHe tried to sing to let her knowThat she was not there alone

But with no lava, his song was all goneHe filled the sea with his tearsWatched his dreams disappear

As she remembered what hissong meant to her

I have a dreamI hope will come trueThat you're here with meAnd I am here with youI wish that the earth, sea, andthe sky up aboveWill send me someone to lavaOh they were so happyTo finally meet above the seaAll together now their lava grew and grew

No longer are they all aloneWith Aloha as their new home

And when you go and visit them this is what they singI have a dream I hope it will come true

That you will grow old with me, and I will grow old with youWe thank the earth, sea, and the sky we thank tooI lava youI lava youI lava you
