May 2008 Dear Phi Mu Sister, As you have hopefully heard by now, there is an exciting event planned for this year’s Alumni Weekend at Miami, on June 13 & 14! We are having a Phi Mu Reunion for the graduating classes of 1980-1990, and we’d love to see YOU there! Enclosed in this mailing are several pieces of information that you’ll want to be sure to look at:

ΦΜ Phi Mu Alumni Weekend Event Overview ΦΜ A reunion T-shirt order form – Advanced Order only, Due May 26th – no additional

shirts will be available at the reunion These items can also be accessed through web at www.miamialum.org. Just click “Register On-line Today”, then “Alumni Weekend Webpage” in the center section. When you get to the next screen, select “Group Reunions” from the left-hand menu. On the next page, scroll down about 2/3 of the way to the listing for the Phi Mu Reunion. Just click on the link and you’ll access all of our group information. Please take a look at the Missing Sisters list that is on this page - do you have emails for any of these sisters? Reservations for some events and for housing are to be made through the university. Other Phi Mu events can be attended with no reservations, although a quick email to one of us would help us greatly in planning numbers. This is all detailed in the event overview (with the paisley at the top). May 23rd is the deadline for early bird registration. Registrations will be accepted after this date, but will not receive the early bird discounts. If you are making reservations for housing, please note that reservations received after May 23rd are not guaranteed to be assigned to the Phi Mu block of rooms, although every effort will be made to accommodate you. Photo memories are always an exciting and meaningful part of any special occasion! Please make a point to read the “Sharing Phi Mu Memories” section on page 4 in the events overview. Everyone’s help is needed here to make this effort successful! Most importantly, if we do not have your email address (you would have received something from us recently if we did have it), please send it to us today, whether you are able to come in June or not. Friday 8:30 am-10 pm Check in and Registration @ Goggin Ice Center

(The new awesome hockey stadium near the Rec Center, across from Hamilton & Richard!)

Phi Mu will be housed together in a room block Get reservations in by May 23rd to ensure yourself a spot in our block of rooms. Linens provided. If you’ll have a roommate, only one of you needs to book the room – just indicate your roommate’s name in the comments section on both registrations, but both will need to register through Miami.

7:00-9:30 Skipper’s Pub We have reserved the upstairs of the infamous Skipper’s for our own

private gathering. Feel free to eat here or just stop by for a drink! (For those of you prior to 1982 who do not know Skipper’s, it is where the old Dairy Queen was, uptown.) Admission - $5.

Saturday If you choose to come on Saturday, June 14th, Check in and Registration will be open 7:30 am – 3:00 pm at Goggin Ice Center. 8:30 am Breakfast in Harris Dining Hall Join your sorority sisters for a casual buffet breakfast Miami-style! (You

can register online or pay at the door.) The buffet is open from 7-9:30 if another time is better for you, but Phi Mu will gather and try to sit together around 8:30.

This is free of charge, and there is no need to register for this in advance. Anyone interested can go together as a group directly from lunch.

2:00- 3:30 pm See the New Phi Mu suite in 180 Richard Hall! Another chance to visit with Phi Mu sisters, old and new! 3:30- 5:00 pm Free time to explore campus, take a tour, hang out… 5:00 pm Parade Party & Parade of Classes Phi Mu will march as a group after the classes. This is a lot of fun – meet

at the Seal/Hub for an old-fashioned pep-rally, band and all, and then parade from there to central quad to kick-off the evening’s festivities! Wear your Phi Mu Spiritwear! Need some? We have a beautiful T you can order!

5:45 pm Remarks by President David Hodge 6:30 pm Alumni Fest BBQ Dinner in the Central Quad Reunion Tent Area We will have our own space in the tent area to sit together as a group.

Dinner will be followed by the Cincinnati band, The Mistics, playing dance hits from the 70’s and 80’s. You must register online for dinner.

Sunday We will have no scheduled activities, but the University will have a breakfast available at Harris dining hall and there will be an Inter-faith Worship Service in the Sesquicentennial Chapel.

Notes: • ‘83 and ‘88 grads wishing to also attend their class reunions may attend their own class

lunch on Saturday, and then join us later in the suite if they choose to. Or, you may wish to join us for lunch and our program, and then hook up with your class at dinner.

• Keep in mind that Miami is offering several other events during the day on Friday and Saturday. Most are free but some you will need to register for online. If you want to attend all Phi Mu functions, you will have morning time and time after the suite open house to do what you want. Check MU website for details on other events, catching up with some of Miami’s accomplished faculty, or even taking a class on how to make your own toasted roll!

Reservations: Register on-line or by mail through the university for these events/options: • Reservations for the dorms • Breakfast (or choose pay-at-the-door option) • Saturday’s Phi Mu lunch -OR- Class Reunion lunch for classes of ’83 and ’88 only • The Alumni Fest BBQ • Some of the other university activities that you would like to participate in during the

weekend will be booked through Miami as well, although many you can just show up for, and are free of charge.

These Phi Mu activities do not require advanced reservations, but dropping an email to Michelle and Lynn will help us greatly in planning numbers: • Friday night uptown at Skippers Top Deck • Private Phi Mu bus tour around campus (so we have enough busses) • Open house in the suite

Sharing Phi Mu Memories Memorabilia: We will have a table available at lunch where you may display your old Phi Mu Memorabilia if you choose. Dig out those old scrapbooks, party favors, photos & spiritwear and enjoy a stroll down memory lane! Photos/DVD: We would LOVE to put together a DVD memories disc of photos from our days at Miami and Phi Mu! But in order to make this happen we need help from YOU! Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy the same technology back then as we have now, so we can’t just upload our digital files and send them off. But if you have pictures that we could use, and have access to a scanner, please scan the photos in and email them to Lynn Grimmer Johnson, lynnsj1@aol.com. If you absolutely cannot scan them, but would like to contribute photos, and will be attending the reunion, please mail them to me and I will return them to you at the reunion. Or I will mail them back to you if you enclose a self-addressed, stamped

envelope, but I would appreciate not having to scan all of those photos, and you’d probably feel safer not parting with them! A few guidelines:

• Please label all photos, digital or hard copy, with approximate date and event if known

• Please write your name on the back of any hard copy photos to be returned so I return the right pics to the right donors.

If we get enough response to make this happen, we will try to make copies of the DVD available to those who are interested, following the reunion. Will keep you posted on that – another good reason to ensure we have your correct e-mail, address & phone! We are also hoping to post photos from the reunion on-line following the event – stay tuned for updates on that! Stay in the Loop! To ensure you’re included in all Alumni Weekend mailings, now and in the future, don’t forget to log on to www.MiamiAlum.org and update your profile, if you haven't already. Be sure to do this anytime your contact information changes. Also, WE need your email, if we don’t already have it.
