• This is an interesting shot of a building from a low angle.

• Every shot is in black and white, consistent.

• Composition is well thought out, central, with space showing the clouds moving.

• Still shot, no camera movement.

• Sharp clean lines, all in focus.

• Flipped upside down, different take on a typical performance scene.

• Composition looks good, follows rule of thirds well.

Example Shot Three:• This is an obscure

shot, hands over the face out of focus.

• Used to separate different shots, transitioning.

• Easy to replicate, could lead nicely into a performance scene.

Example Shot Four:• A lot of the shots

are filmed indirectly, as if the performer was unaware that it was being filmed.

• The architecture plays a big part throughout the music video, creating interesting patterns and shadows.

• Could lead into a performance scene

Example Shot Five:• Movement shot of

going down a waterslide.

• Breaks up still shots, changing of pace within the music video.

• We would have to find a similar way of doing this shot, and give the same effect.

favourite shots.• Love the performer

out of focus with focus on the city at night.

• To add to this, we could do a pull focus to the performer singing, increases technicality and creativity.

Example Shot Seven:• Unachievable shot

used by a drone – we understand that we will not be able to get similar shots to this.

• Drones allow wide establishing shots of an area, slow and gentle movement.

• Shot itself is well composed, interesting and all in focus.

Example Shot Eight:• Camera movement

following him walking through pillars.

• Flipped sideways, similar to other shots throughout. Creates interest as it’s an unnatural angle to be looking at.

• Would need to practice movement with camera to see whether a steady cam is necessary.

Example Shot Nine:• Shot was probably capture

with a drone looking at the angle, but I think we achieve shots like this (and others featured within the video easily enough.

Thoughts• We like the video because it has interesting and achievable

shot types, and although the video itself is not performance heavy, there are certain shots that we could change to become performance to help balance our music video and keep the conventions of the genre.

• The music video uses shots using a drone to get amazing aerial shots of the city. These establishing shots are something that we, as students, would not be able to replicate. However, if we were to find a tall building (a tall carpark in the city centre for example) we may be able to get the same effect.
