October2020 / Issue 05 You may have noticed a crane towering above the steel hoarding recently. The photographs show what was going on behind the scenes and the crane lifting precast concrete floor panels from the delivery wagons. The completed floor installation reveals the scale of the new sheltered block which spans the length of the site from the existing sheltered block to King Lane. The steels (in red) are the mid-way point that create the support for the internal communal space. Diggers at the top right of the photograph are preparing the general needs block which will follow the same build process, and in mid November, the precast floor panels are planned for installation. Look out for the return of the crane! The floor installation has caused disruption to staff car parking on site and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused outside the site. We now have a temporary arrangement to park away from the estate which should improve the issue. It’s been a wet October and we’ve had to pump out water in some areas just to continue work! And with the rain came the mud! We book road sweeps at the end of the working day when there are concrete deliveries and muck away. We have just introduced a jet wash for wheels before wagons leave site to help alleviate mud on the road during the day. The highlighted section of Queenshill Avenue will be closed for one week for a drain connection. The notice will be displayed in the next few weeks prior to closure, to give people the opportunity to find alternative parking during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. In the next couple of weeks we will start a sequence of scaffolding to the sheltered block to enable bricklaying beyond the ground floor. To help reduce noise levels, once we get going, we have arranged for the scaffold bed to be delivered in the afternoon prior to the following days work. 6:30-7am most people arrive on site. 7:30am Work starts and includes the following: forklifts, excavators, delivery lorries, scaffolders, cranes, bricklayers and groundworks. 8:30am No percussion tools such as hammer drills or pneumatic breakers are used before 8:30am without prior consent from LJHA. Site is operational from 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 2pm on Fridays (from 01 November) We would like to thank you for your ongoing patience and co-operation. Kind regards, the ENGIE Team.
