Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble – pumpkin

eats and colorful leaves, crisp, autumn air and candy apple treats! Whether you

delight in nature’s brilliant orange hues at sunset or prefer to stay indoors next to a

crackling fire, October is sure to haunt your boredom, providing endless adventure

for every heart!

Honing in the spirit of the season and unafraid of capturing daring,

enchanting portraits, Kate T. Parker is our October featured photographer! An

Atlanta, Ga., native, she thrives on the “in between” moments, the imperfect

moments, the mistakes, the toothless smiles and the scraped knees. In between

wedding, family and children shoots, Kate is an active member of the NAPCP

community and recently served as an esteemed judge in our past image competition

– we thank you, Kate!

Speaking of… we want to congratulate our recent winners of the July 2014

Image Competition! You are each wonderful and talented individuals, bringing

unique elements to the art of photography and our organization. Many thanks for

sharing your work with us!

For those goblins and ghouls who have yet to register for the 2015 NAPCP

Retreat, there’s still time to join us in winter wonderland bliss. Why not be

spontaneous and treat yourself to a rewarding escape to Whistler, British Columbia?!

Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.

Until next time, happy fall (and Halloween) to all!

Hello friends!

SincerelyThe NAPCP Team

Tell us your story. How you started and how your photography, brand, and

business transformed over the last few years?

I was working as a producer/writer for an ad agency here in Atlanta before I

had my kids...I thought I'd be back there within a few months. That was almost

10 years ago. I started photographing my girls and wasn't satisfied with how

they looked. The years spent working with art directors had left their mark! I

bought some books and started reading online, upgraded my camera, bought

lightroom, bought photoshop, started shooting my friends, slowly learned

more, got frustrated, got better, made some goals, met them, made some more

goals and am trying to reach them.

Your fine art photography is simply stunning. Can you share how this has

evolved over time for you?

Thank you! I love shooting for me. I think there's always an aspect of fine art

in everything I shoot, or at least I try. Shooting for clients I try to provide the

same aesthetic that I would shoot for myself.

You are a mother of two with a very successful business - any secrets for

the work/life balance conundrum? Know how to say "no" and do not be

afraid to use it. Don't worry about whether or not someone will like you or

not like you based on if you can do something for them, put your time with

your family first and be comfortable in setting boundaries.

What is the most valuable business lesson you've learned so far?

Trust your gut!

Your website is SO creative! We loved reading the Fun Facts and Daydreams.

Congrats on the Ironman Triathalon! Tell us more about that! Thank you! J.

Shipley Creative knocked it out of the park on my site. He's amazing. The iron-

man seems like another lifetime ago now! I completed Ironman Coeur D'Alene

in Idaho in 2007. It was a huge life goal for me and I am so glad I had the oppor-

tunity and support to train and finish.
