So what do you do? You have a household to run, kids need to be at school and somehow you have to find the time and energy to grocery shop and make dinner. Prevention is a mom’s best friend. Ask your health care practitioner for a simple serum ferritin test which will show if your body’s iron stores are dropping. If they are, iron-rich foods like eggs, dark leafy greens, beans and legumes can help, but if a deficiency is determined, you may want to turn to an easily absorbed liquid supplement to get you back to being a super mom! While the stresses of back to school can be exhausting, there may be some- thing else to blame for why you’re feeling so tired. You could be low in iron. Common symptoms include fatigue and poor concentration, difficulty exercis- ing, pale skin, dark circles under the eyes, brittle hair and nails, and cold hands and feet. Your body can’t produce its own iron which makes iron deficiency particularly common among women of child-bearing years. Supermoms suffer from iron deficiency too

damage; in fact, most developed nations do not consider GMOs to be safe. In more than 60 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, there are signi cant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs.

Supporting the Non-GMO Project is not only in line with Flora’s standards, but it’s also good for the industry and the planet. Flora’s

partnership with the Non-GMO Project began in 2012. In fact, Flora’s Flax Oil was the rst Non-GMO Project Veri ed ax oil to be packaged in glass, something we are very proud of. Help us celebrate Non-GMO’s this month, and say “no” to GMOs.

• 1 cup almond our

• 3/4 cup butter, soft or at room temperature

• 3/4 cup honey

• 2 tablespoons milk

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 2 tablespoons ground ax seed

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 1 teaspoon salt

• 3/4 cup almonds

Ingredients: Makes 24 Witch fingers

O ces and schools are ooded with sugar-spiked treats this time of year, and some-times they’re hard to resist. These easy to make witch “ ngers” are packed with nutrition, and make a great after-school snack, or mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Directions:Preheat the oven to 180º C and grease a baking sheet with butter. Combine the butter, honey, milk and vanilla extract in a large bowl, and beat them well until they turn nice and u y. In another wide bowl, sieve the whole wheat our and add in the almond our, ground ax seed, baking powder, salt and mix them well.Mix the dry ingredients along with the wet ingredients in the bowl and knead everything into soft pliable dough. Once done, cover it with a plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.Take a portion of the dough, divide it into small balls and shape them into thin, long cylindrical strips. With a sharp knife, mark thin lines at di erent places to form nger knuckles and place an almond towards one end of the strips, to denote nger nails. Arrange these dough witch ngers on the baking sheet and bake them for about 15 to 20 minutes until they turn golden brown. When done, remove from the oven and allow them to cool completely.
