ODQ FrenchDo You Know Periodontics? You Should!
Periodontal diseases are a major public health problem.Along with cavities, they are the most widespread conditionsaffecting the oral cavity. They were also identified as a riskfactor for systemic diseases such as diabetes as well as cardio -vascular and pulmonary diseases. Periodontitis is characterizedby a progressive degradation of dental supporting tissuesand is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Let’s notforget that with the multiplication of implant supportedrestorations, the number of perio-implantological complicationsis on the rise. In this context, it is vital that each dental teammember has a basic knowledge of periodontics to ensurequality care for their patients.
This conference aims at providing basic periodontics notionsto denturists including periodontal and perio-implantologicalprevention, diagnostic and treatment. The impact ofperiodontitis on the patients’ general oral health and quality oflife will also be discussed. A brief relation between periodontitisand dental implants will conclude the conference. Clinicalcases will be used to illustrate this presentation.

Occlusion And Its Relationship To Implants
Complete dentures retained by implants are becomingmore commonplace in our industry. As such, we are alsobecoming aware of several challenges in transitioning apatient who has been wearing dentures for many years toan implant retained denture. Some of these challengesinclude denture chipping, popping out, or general difficultychewing. A further setback is multiple relining of an implantretained denture without success; resulting in an unhappypatient. These situations leave the practitioner frustratedand wondering as to the cause and why remedies did notwork. This lecture will touch on managing occlusionconsiderations (in relation to implants) and options fortreatment planning in efforts to provide an understandingwhy these challenges occur and how to manage them.

Alain Gauthier, DD, has always had a passion for photographyand for several years it has been his pleasure to integratephotography into denturism, both for his own office and, through the medium of the “Le Denturo” journal, also for theAssociation of Denturists of Quebec. It was therefore withpleasure that he responded in the affirmative to the invitationextended, to share with you his knowledge of the subject. He will discuss intra-oral photos, macro-photos, and theirusefulness in the dental domain.
The technological evolution of recent years offers access toinnovative tools, but one must still know how to use them.A presentation by Mr. Gauthier will be of great interest, permitting you better mastery of these innovations, or,simply, letting you discover them.

Denture Success From Case History To Prosthesis Placement
Patients' expectations of accurate, detailed results mean thatour quality must be flawless. This has made us look at totaltooth loss treatment differently and to design prosthesesadaptable to different clinical situations.
These demands are not an obstacle; they serve as aspringboard for us to make our mark through the quality ofour work. In this session, we will compare, in detail, the keypoints of a prosthetic restoration from case history toprosthesis placement including; Primary and secondaryimpressions, Face bow: YES or NO and what type of toothfor what type of prosthesis. Because every patient wants tobe taken care of individually, we will also review individualcharacterization of the restoration using the new Nexcogingiva product.
Finally, why not let technology, like the Ivobase Injector, takecare of prosthesis polymerization. We will review the advantagesof Ivobase and how to incorporate it into your clinic.

The Ultra Suction System Take Two – An Innovative Technology
Those of you who did not have the opportunity to attendthe training on the benefits and installation of the new UltraSuction technology may do so at the Symposium. DanielLéveillé, DD, will help you truly understand the system’soperation. Designed to help stabilize dentures, the UltraSuction System integrates two valves into the denturerecess. When the patient bites, the air stored between thegingiva and the denture is evacuated by these valvesthereby creating suction and keeping the denture in place. The adjustment is precise: your patient will be comfortableand will be able to eat in all confidence.
