October 26, 2014October 26, 2014October 26, 2014October 26, 2014 RESPECT LIFE MONTH 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
TODAY!
Priesthood Sunday is a special day set aside to honor the priesthood in the United States. To observe this celebration, Priests for Life invites you to join our Novena for Priests.
(Prayer for Priesthood Novena) Father, You sent your Son Jesus Christ
To be our High Priest,
And you gave us the gift of the priesthood
To continue his saving work.
Bless our priests, and give us more of them.
Make them holy. Strengthen them to proclaim the Gospel of Life,
And to defend the rights of all,
Especially the unborn.
Bring us, your priests and people
To the life that never ends.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Priesthood Sunday is coordinated by the USA Council of Serra International, an organization of lay men and women whose mission is to foster and affirm vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

AFTER the 7:00am
& 9:00am Masses
Isabella Carreon and Mary Chavez decided they wanted to be proactive in the defense of those most vulnerable in our society, children in the womb at risk of abortion, and decided on a “Cookies For
Life” bake sale fundraiser (including preparation and 2 days baking!) for the benefit of the Community Pregnancy Center (Simi Valley), Pregnancy Counseling Center (Mission Hills) and Life Centers of Ventura Co. These young ladies understand the importance of providing for “unplanned” pregnancies and are
doing something about it!
Isabella & Mary wish to thank all St. Rose parishioners who were so generous in their support.
Remember to turn your clocks back 1 hour next Saturday at 2:00am

Dear friends,
Greetings! I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who made the Simi Valley Dream Cuisine—”Be True To You School”—such a great success. I have received dozens of e-mails and phone calls from persons telling me what a wonderful time they, their family and friends had at the festival.
My first thanks goes to Cliff Wirtz and his committee who organized and produced our gala. Who would have known that I would get sick this year and not be able to do what I normally did in the past? God was so good to inspire Cliff and company to take charge of this year’s event. I am truly grateful to him and his crew who did such incredible job.
Second, I would like to thank the school—principal, faculty, staff, parents and students—who organized our great Silent Auction and who helped to set up and clean–up the festival grounds, and who staffed some of our parish food booths.
Third, I would like to thank you, the parishioners, for your great support of this year’s festival. Because of you and your word of mouth, we sold out all the entrance tickets this year. Thanks also for your participation in the Opportunity Drawing.
Fourth, I would like to thank the 50 restaurants, 6 wineries, 2 breweries, 12 dessert establishments, Gavina Coffee, and Cuppa Tea With Me that joined us for the evening. We thank them for their generous support. We hope that you will patronize these restaurants and businesses during the upcoming year as an expression of our gratitude for their generous donations.
I would like to express my gratitude as well to all the volunteers from our parish ministries and the young people from St. Rose of Lima Youth and Confirmation Programs, as well as the students from Bishop Alemany, Chaminade, Notre Dame and La Reina High Schools. Thank you also to the Venture Crew, Troop 2605, led by their president, Patrick Quinn, who presented the colors; and to Madeleine Wirtz who sang the National Anthem.
I also would like to thank the man-power chairmen, Faustino Villanueva, Adam Cross, Claira Castillo and Dave Kern. Rick Ostrich and his ticket and raffle committee. Don Runyon, Norm Ouellette and the crew who set up the stage, dance floor and the booths on our festival grounds; to David Bateman and Elegant Gardens who loaned us all the beautiful palm trees, crepe myrtles, and bougainvilleas to create this tropical environment; and to Joe Tarpley and his crew for transporting and setting them up at the festival grounds, and for the beautiful landscaping.
Finally, a special thanks to event webmasters & event program designers—Ray Scarpa and Ed Hise, as well to Lisa Hartigan and her crew for preparing our beautiful centerpiecesl and to Jean and Kathy Shea, Amry Proni, Hal and Teresa Wieland for decorating the hall for our silent auction. Because of all these contributions, our festival was a tremendous success. May God Bless you all.
I would also like congratulate our Raffle Ticket Winners:
1st Prize— Byron Delto, 2nd Prize—Deb Punch, 3rd Prize—Yvette Adams.
Gratefully yours in Christ,
Fr. Joseph Shea

¿Sabia Usted?
miedo.

Though safety inside school is ultimately the responsibility of
the principal and school staff, parents can take a few basic
steps to ensure a safe school experience.”

instinct and paying attention to funny feelings of fear. Explain
what to do if she doesn't feel safe (find a teacher, call 911,

Bendice a
nuestros sacerdotes, y danos más. Hazlos santos.
Queridos amigos,
¡Saludos!
Cuisine "Be True To You School" -un gran éxito. He recibido docenas de correos electrónicos y llamadas
Gracias a
postre, café Gavina, y “Cuppa Tea With Me”.

The Pro-Choice Lie
Everybody likes to have choices in life, whether they are financial, personal or
business-related. Having a choice is a good thing – and this is precisely what the
pro-death fac#on plays upon when promo#ng their agenda of death. The one thing you’ll never
hear from them is exactly what that “choice” means. Choice means having to make the decision
as to whether you will put your child to death - or accep#ng that gi' from God and choosing to
let the child live.
Abs#nence, chas#ty and adop#on are valid choices that never seem to be promulgated by
organiza#ons such as Planned Parenthood, whose founder, Margaret Sanger was not only an
avowed atheist, but also an avid believer that certain people like the poor, physically challenged
or ethnic minority groups had no reproduc#ve rights. Over the years her ideas have morphed
into slick, non-offensive slogans such as “Reproducve Rights” or “Clean and Safe Aboron”.
There is nothing clean or safe for the child who is murdered by people who had no right to kill
him or her.
Unfortunately, in this culture of death, you will find more sympathy from the mainstream media
for rescuing cats and dogs than unborn children - who are really the most defenseless members
of society. Abor#on is an abomina#on before God because it is a wanton act of murder against a
defenseless, innocent vic#m as well as a refusal of his gi' of love.
According to the World Health Organiza#on, the annual worldwide number of abor#ons is
somewhere between 35-50 million. This is an unprecedented genocide that dwarfs the
numbers of vic#ms who were butchered at the hands of Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and every
other mass-murderer in the history of the world – against vic#ms who never had a chance – OR
a choice. For more informa#on, please visit:
