Hi team,

What’s up with all this rain? Every time I use my car I need to put a wetsuit on to keep warm........bring on the fine, sunny cruizing days I say.

October and November a real busy car months for most of us so please make sure you have the calender weekends blocked out for all those important events.

Happy Cruzin,

All USA Day - 20th Nov 2016As most of you are aware November is our month for organising/runnning our annaul “All USA Day” Car Show.

This year our event is going to be held at Classic Flyers, Aerodrome, Mt Maunganui NOT the usual venue of the domain opposite the tauranga court house. Please spread the word and let as many people as you know that the venue has been moved, I have attached a copy of the flyer for you to print off and distribute anywhere you can think of. if you wish.......being our first year at Classic Flyers it would be great if we could get as many people there to show their american cars off so a good show can be put on for the public.

We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day with looking after the gate entry, show vehicle judging etc. You do not need any experiance just a willingness to help your club on the day and “as many hands make light work” the more members who volunteer to muck in the less we all have to do to make it enjoyable for all members. Twas a gloomy looking day when we all met at Putaruru but what a turn out!!!

4 cars from Rotorua & a further 15 from Tauranga & Ngaruawhahia turned up at the meeting point in Putaruru.

After the normal “greetings” etc we set off for Arapuni where we parked up at the Arapuni Bowling Club & proceeded to walk the “swing bridge” over the Arapuni Power Station. This proved to be a popular stop with assorted reactions on walking the bridge.

We then went to the Arapuni Cafe for coffee, after the caffine fix we all set out to Whakamaru via a senic detour through Bullmores Landing & Arohena.

Upon arriving at Whakamaru Power Station we all parked up within the station grounds and enjoyed a tour through the Powerhouse. This appeared to be a hit & we all learned a little bit about the generation of electricity at a hydro power station, many thanks to Owen, Stu and Mike for allowing us accessto this facility.

From here we went the short distance to Ned’s Cafe where we all enjoyed Pizza & Coffees etc. No game unfortunatly this time due to weather conditions but this will be on hold for the next opportunity.

Back into the cars and we were off to Pete Philips property where we all learnt about logging trucks, broken shafts & a nice collection of cars & memorabilia. Thanks to Pete & Yvonne for making us feel very welcome.

It time time to say our goodbyes and head home, it was a great day and really good to see a fantastic turnout in such adverse weather conditions.

Thanks to all, Phill & Mandy.

Club Weekend Away - Waitangi Wknd 2017This is still a wee way away but put it on your calender, the usual “weekend away” that has hisorically been on AKL Anniversary Weekend has been moved to Waitangi Weekend so that it no longer clashes with the Jetsprints at Baypark.

This time around we are cruising to New Plymouth, leaving on the 4th Feb and returning on the 6th. The usual antics will play out with lots of fun had along the way. There are 12 x rooms pre-booked so if you are interested Please contact Paul Stops and he can help you out with finer details and accommodation bookings.
