WEDDING BELLS

The world around us is resplendent with every imaginable colour. But the magical colourful curtain spread across in the sky at the twilight time has always attracted me the most. It is that special time of the day between light and darkness, when the sky is diffused with several colours.

Though that moment lasts for a very short time, it’s splendid in its majesty; with its glow promising that very soon sun will rise and envelope the darkness. And the morning light will bring in the sunshine with gold and amber hues shining out bright and clear, with the blue sky merging into its surrounding. By the evening the vibrant red will lose its piquancy and quietly embrace the darkness of the blue grey sky.

Just like the changing colours and hues of the sky, we too undergo the vagaries of life. But we know that nothing lasts forever and there will always be a brighter tomorrow.

So, whenever you feel the blues, think of all the vibrant colours that radiate in your life and you might find yourself looking forward to the new day with same vigour.

Just allow yourself to be soaked in the vivid colours of life!

DAY OUT IN THE SUNThe DMS team (Puducherry) went for a picnic to Queens Land Amusement park, Chennai on the 2nd of October. It was a day to re-energize and unwind. They had a fun time out there as the accompanying pictures show.

FUN FACTS

Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, or the use of colors to heal. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment.

The Aztecs of Mexico taught the Spanish how to make red dye by crushing insects called cochineals.

Green, brown, and red are the most popular food colors. Red is often used in restaurant decorating schemes because it is an appetite stimulant while the color blue is one of the least appetizing in food.

Purple has always been considered the color of royalty because for a long time it was very hard to find. Cleopatra needed 20,000 snails soaked for ten days to obtain one ounce of purple dye for her royal clothing.

Chromophobia, also called chromatophobia is a persistent, irrational fear of colors. People with chromophobia may correlate a distressing past event with a color.

When we suddenly switch off the lights in a room & just before complete darkness takes over; we see a dark gray color which experts have termed ‘eigengrau’- a uniform dark gray background resulting from the absence of light.
