Class Building
Building online courses in Banner is generally the same as any course with the exceptions that are outlined herein.

Building Classes in BannerWhen building courses into Banner, please check the accuracy for INET, INT1 and INT2 courses. Areas affected by incorrect coding are:
• Reporting by modality, SCH, etc.• Loss of tuition • Faculty payment (per student stipend)
− Online tuition pays for the Per Student Stipend, if coded incorrectly faculty will not be paid
• Ability to provide end-of-course Evaluations • Courses with students enrolled will have to be corrected by the Registrar• May create student confusion when additional tuition must be added after
registration

Building Guides for Online• SECTION:
− 899, 898, 897 & 896 for INET courses (895, 894, 893 can also be used if more sections are needed)Online Intersession may use 701-710.
• CAMPUS:− Must be ‘Z-Off Campus’ for Springfield/MSU online
classes
• INSTRUCTION METHOD: − INET or INT1, INT2 (not TRAD, BLND, ITV, IDV, CBLE, etc.)
– NOTE! Per the Office of the Provost, online faculty will not receive the Per Student Stipend if courses are coded incorrectly.
• SESSION:– The letter ‘D’ is a designation for Online as a division of Outreach
– Usually input by MS Online, however this code will rollover and remain even if you change the delivery mode. Only online courses are coded with a ‘D’.
– NOTE: if you change the delivery from INET to TRAD, BLND, etc., you must remove the ‘D’ from the SSASECT ‘session field’.
