The syndicate was created during July of 2012 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

For months there had been talk between our bands, as we became closer friends, of unified movement in an upward direction, all of us being non-native to Toronto and looking for a scene.

It so happened that we each had a taste for D.I.It so happened that we each had a taste for D.I.Y innovation when it came to distribution and printing, and we all agreed that when it came to show bookings it was better to leave the middleman promoter out of the question... Just to ensure the flier got passed all the way around town and the bill carried a certain uniqueness.

The first shows were booked long before we got the idea to formalize our group as a 'syndicate' between February and June of 2012 in various spaces of west Toronto, finding that the right combina-tion of music and people is a special intoxication that is noticeable to all in attendance. What we found was that, in embracing our group's separateness, the island of our culture, we drew in all sorts of people who had been looking for an island and then heard our celebrations...

To be broad, when I said 'we,' I meant these bands:The Bulletproof Tiger, Ontario Plates, This Is Me As A Woman, Earth at Night, etc...but for the sake of introduction, I will clarify that as meaning myself and my close comrades, who have done the arranging of this organization without disparity, and who will be introduced here:

Kim Kukoraitis is a guitar player, a singer, and one of the pioneers of the story I am telling In the summer of 20In the summer of 2011, Kim was involved in the creation of Acoustik Roots Studio with Jay Howarth, who is an audio engineer and a drummer. These two make up the outfit This Is Me As A Woman, and continue to operate the studio which housed the creating of the Syndicate, and still serves the Syndicate as one of our merchandise factories and a practice space.

Joe Di Maio is a bassist who plays in The Bulletproof Tiger and who continues to act as one of the crucial engineers of syndicate operations.

Myself, I am Bob Catford, a guitarist who is attached to Windsor-based bands Ontario Plates and Myself, I am Bob Catford, a guitarist who is attached to Windsor-based bands Ontario Plates and Earth at Night, and who now works actively on Junior Bob. The capacity in which I work for the syndi-cate is mostly aesthetic; I do show fliers and I make music. And I handle printing when it needs to be done.

Since we have organized the Syndicate, we have had the good fortune of working with many next level bands. For example, cutting edge French math-rockers Fago.Sepia were our first headliners, and the future is looking brighter and brighter for Next Level operations, as the members of our extended family, being as creative as they are, continue to make new bands in the place of old.

To conclude this introduction, I would like to thank you for your interest in our organization and your patronage. As I said, many new projects are afoot so stay up on all our activities and be sure to check in with each of us personally if you should feel so inclined.

“The auto parts industry, since its inception, has always been, somewhat of an elusive creature. Everyone knows that the auto parts store is there, yet, somehow it remains a mystery.”
