A new unisex changing area will be created for swimmers, accessed from the café viewing area. The design of the changing village is based Sport England Swimming Pool Design Guidance. A mixture of single, double, family and disabled cubicles is provided. A Sport England “Changing Places” fully disabled change facility with ceiling mounted hoist will be provided.

A new deck level pool drainage channel approximately 300mm x 350mm deep is to be integrated into the pool surrounds. The pool profile is modified and raised in accordance with Sport England 2011 guidelines for 25 metre pools. This will create a greater percentage of shallow water area for learn to swim groups. The shallow end is 1 metre deep and 1.8m at the deep end with a lowest point of 2 metre.

Plans include a new double height fully glazed entrance with coloured infill panels providing views in and out of the Centre, and an active frontage to the river footpath.

Visitors enter through a new lobby with automatic sliding doors providiing easy access for all, especially those with children, pushchairs and those with disabilities. The open reception area offers views through into the cafe and pool hall. The café viewing area will have loose tables and chairs for spectators.
