DRIVING TEST APP"In Serbia many young drivers lack essential knowledge of the traffic laws. The government had declared a new system for driving and testing to fight the problem back in 2009. Three years later however, the new system still doesnʻt exist. To raise awareness on the urgency of a new system, Leo Burnett Belgrade created a very effective driving test app. Right after choosing an answer on the test, a short movie shows a real accident occuring in the same situation, irrespective of whether you picked the right or wrong answer. This serves to highlight that even though you made the right decision, someone else somewhere made the wrong choice, which results in a horrific accident. Due to the awareness sucess that the initiative was able to generate, the Ministry for Home Affairs immediately announced a new start for the system on 25th October. CAR VS PIANO"Russians are very optimistic people. They have a say: „You never know when a piano falls on you“. But of most them think that the piano is going to fall on someone else. Same for car accidents. To prove that everyone can be hit by a car accident, the insurance company „Intouch“ started an experiment called „Car vs. Piano“. Several random incidents such as Barcelona wonʻt reach the Champions League Final, trigger cutting one of the ropes holding the piano. VOLKSWAGEN STREET QUEST"South Africans really love Volkswagen. To celebrate Volkswagens impact on South Africa and also to launch the new Volkswagen facebook page, the Street Quest challenge was created. By using Google Street View in a custom designed interface, people were challenged to find as many Volkswagen in South Africa as possible. The users with the most VW Pins were invited to the big final – a live competition in Capetown with great prices. IMAGINE YOU ARE BLIND"Blind people have a difficult life. In some countries such as Russia itʻs even more difficult, since the infrastructure of the everyday life is not very friendly to blind people. To find solutions for that problem the charity association „the right to smile“ came up with a campaign. People were encouraged to put a blindfold on and experience what being blind means. Additionally they were asked to help a blind kid in a virtual emergency situation on www.youareblind.com. THE ART OF GETTING ATTENTION"Simple billboard messages are, if not a bit outdated then at least a bit boring to tell the truth. The public may not always be amused by certain guerilla actions but in some cases one canʻt be not amused. And some guerilla actions are very provoking and will not only cause you to reflect on them, but that they may inspire you in some way. In one campaign for example, a Dutch car insurance company put clear stickers on cars, making it look like they had been scratched; the ad copy was only visible up close. CIVIL SOCIETY AND SOCIAL MEDIA"The words “civil society” can seem almost as mutual as the term “social media.”  Yet the two are becoming ever more powerfully linked to the promotion of democracy and human rights in the modern world. Social media consists of forms of electronic communication – typically using Internet- and mobile-based tools – which allow the creation of online communities to share information and ideas. Itʻs accessible, fast and easy to use, hence available in every corner of the world, especially in those countries where democracy relies on civil society. Can social media be used for good as well as for bad.  The question should be:  Will the good uses outweight the bad?  What do you think?!
