Project Update
November 14th, 2011
Roadway Projects
Phase I • Electrical acceptance is the only outstanding item
remaining on TxDOT’s list for acceptance. Staff waiting for invitation to this acceptance walk-through
Phase II • TxDOT accepted bids in August • Construction scheduled to begin in late November • Duration is 16 months (March 2013)
Cullen Parkway
Phase II – Mary’s Creek Bypass to SH35 • CPE’s new cost for streetlight installation
will save approx. $22,000 • Completed signal pre-emption work south
of FM 518 and 2 intersections • No active work on punchlist work by
contractor
Dixie Farm Road
• Asphalt overlay between Austin and McLean is 85% complete
• BNSF has relocated and installed the software for their signal house
• TxDOT contractor has pulled all of the necessary conduit for the completion of the pre-emption work
• Substantial completion scheduled for late October • Full opening of SH35 intersection is dependent upon
TxDOT completion of the new signal
Walnut Reconstruction
Construction Phase III – Morgan to Harkey and CR 89
• Contractor reported completion of punchlist items; review pending
• Engineers working on red-line/record drawings
Magnolia Road
• All utility conflicts at the intersection of Mykawa and Orange have been resolved
• Traffic signal poles at Mykawa have been installed. The mast arms and signal heads are to be installed by November 18th
• WB pavement completed from Mykawa to ?? • Orange is open to eastbound traffic only
between Hatfield and Mykawa until the end of November at which time the traffic will shift to westbound only.
Orange Street
• Met with design team to discuss comments
from TxDOT regarding FM 1128. Design may be revised to reduce impacts to FM 1128 configuration and reduce TxDOT requests for modifications of the ROW
• Enterprise Pipeline completed relocation of 16” pipeline adjacent to Bailey Road
Bailey Road (Veterans to FM1128)
McHard Road (Soundwall Construction)
• Punch-list items have been completed • Closing out contract
• 90% plans were submitted and are under review
• Continued coordination with developer, County staff and CR59 designers
• Held coordination meeting with County to discuss intersection at CR 59
Business Center Drive
• Contractor is completing sidewalks, driveways and street light foundations on west side
• FM518 intersection delay continues due to contamination investigation
• TxDOT conducting a Phase II ESA; new core samples taken
• Traffic switch to new lanes is being scheduled for late November
• Mitigation Ponds out for bids
SH35 – BW8 to FM518
• Shoulder pavement is complete • Drill shafts for signal foundations completed • Traffic switched to new pavement at Kirby
Drive, Kingsley, and Business Center Drive • Project is on schedule for completion in
January 2012
FM 2234 Widening
• The controlling server has been installed in the computer room at Hillhouse and is now functional
• Fiber link between Hillhouse and PSB was completed and tested in early Nov. This will allow the camera data to be viewed by anyone within the City with authorized access
• Computer controller has been turned over
Adaptive Traffic Signal Improvements
Drainage Projects
Diversion Ditch • DD4 continued excavation of diversion ditch west of CR
143 Pump Station • Recommendation report received from the consultant.
Currently under review by City staff. • Design completion proposal under review Re-grading of Roadside Ditches • Scheduling a meeting with Brazoria County to review

Cowart Creek Diversion
Facility Projects
• Adaptive Signal Servers installed • Completed installation of fuel island
equipment; final testing and connection to the Public Works Service Center completed
• Completed installation of security system • Building is occupied • Punch list is completed
Hillhouse Road Service Center
• Contractor has closed in the building • Interior work ongoing • December 7th latest completion date
Fire Station #6
• Project Bid on October 13th • Prepared Bid Award for Council • KPB funding $5,000 of project • Terracon donating the material testing cost
Pearland Gateway – Project Stars
Parks
• Trail section from Ryan Acres Dr to Mary’s Creek poured
• Drainage west of McLean installed • Contractor forming trail sections along
property across from SWEC and within Centennial Park
Trail Connectivity
• Interlocal and MOU with BDD4 will be on 11/28 Council agenda
• Drafted developer agreement with MUD engineer and developer on CR 403 and future subdivision utility and drainage needs
• Engineer working on 90% Pond & 90% CR403 plans and H&H report
• Property acquisition ongoing • Engineer submitted geotechnical report for review
Sports Complex at Max Road
Utility Projects
30” Waterline Interconnect
• HMI will begin flushing & disinfection the 30” water line system this week
• Water is anticipated to be available from the City of Houston in the first part of December 2011

Alice Street Water Plant • Contractor and their subcontractors continued to work
on the remaining punchlist items from the August 30th preliminary inspection of the facilities
• Submitted 60% plans and Specs October 24th
• Held filter spec meeting with Nova Filters
Longwood WWTP Rehabilitation
• Reviewing 90% plans • Working on Instrumentation and Operation
plans • Operations staff approved a second
centrifuge manufacturer as an alternate supplier.
Barry Rose WWTP Rehabilitation
• Survey and geotechnical, and Phase 1 ESA work ongoing
• Finalized Phase 1 ESA • Will need a Nationwide Permit for the Mary’s
Creek Crossing • Refined alternate route along Centennial Village
and Corrigan Pond.
Hatfield Basin Trunk Sewer
• Engineer continued design phase services • Anticipating 60% review to begin in
November
Twin Creek Regional Lift Station
Far Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
• Consultant finalized the report on the Decanter System • Make improvements per the manufacturer’s
recommendation (mfg’s cost) • Replace butterfly valves with plug valves
(City’s cost) • Replace system at next plant expansion
• UV system will be replaced • Scoping design contract with consultant
Old Alvin 20” Waterline
• Received PER; currently in review process with staff
• Phase II ESA field work performed; contaminated soils issues identified near FM518 and Old Alvin
BellaVita Waterline Interconnect
• Reviewing previous environmental reports from Harris County Pct. 1
• Will probably need USACE to provide a wetland delineation verification
• Survey work ongoing
