Paul brings an association with the RNZ Foundation for the Blind and Gary a lifetime of working in broadcasting. After eight years as chair Ken Sterne stepped down and Adrian Kealey has taken on the role as acting chairperson for this year. We are on the lookout for someone to assume this role on a more permanent basis. The remainder of the board, Jim, Donna, Chloe, Steve and Phil were relected. Internet radio We now upload as podcasts, the Dominion Post, NZ Listener, NZ Today, NZ Memories, local newspapers and HDC bulletins, along with a weekly programme on parliament by Tom Frewen. These can all be accessed via our website. Click on the PODCAST tab and follow the link. We will shortly be uploading our latest book, about Pike River being read by Mark Jenkins. Podcasts are recorded programmes stored as audio files that can be accessed at a time suitable to the listener – much like TV On Demand. Those with smart phones or tablets will be aware of apps, those small pro-grammes that give you access to all manner of smart things. We now have an app for Radio Reading, at this stage only for devices running android. To load go to Google Play and search for Radio Reading Service. We still have some more features to add to this including a link to the live broadcasts and our library of podcasts watch this space. Partnerships Ken and Paul recently attended a RNZ Foundation for the Blind roadshow where they renewed contact with this organisation. The foundation is keen to progress a relationship, especially around our internet radio resources. We look forward to working with them to provide a resource for their members. Annual Get-together Our annual get-together will be held on Monday, 2 December at 2.30 pm in the upstairs lounge in the Kent and Little Building, 29 Queen St. We will be giving a presentation on the website and an update on the changes within.
