Writing Sample (REQUIRED)Submit a portfolio with this application. The portfolio should contain samples (between 15 and 20 pages) of your writing - short story, poetry, creative or personal essay, song lyrics - any kind of creative writing. The samples can be complete or incomplete. For example, you may submit two or three pages of a longer work, if the story or chapter is too long to submit in its entirety. The writing portfolio must be computer printed and stapled or bound in a flat “report” / “presentation” folder. No 3-ring binders. Please note, submissions will not be returned. In addition, your portfolio must include a MANDATORY essay on the topic described below. This essay should be placed at the beginning of your portfolio.

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island, which five books and/or five films would you want to have saved from the wreck? (It happens that the island has a solar-powered television that plays DVDs. It has no antenna or cable though, so you'll have to

watch the same films over and over...)

If your essay primarily involves your favorite films, please list your favorite five books at the end of the essay just to give us some notion of the kinds of things you like to read. In addition, even if you have no real interest in film, please reveal what films you might have saved from the wreck if sharks had not consumed them first.

The Culinary Arts and Hospitality audition is a two-round process and consists of the following: Round One: Application, Video & Portfolio Submission Please submit a completed application, video and portfolio containing an essay and your favorite recipe as described in the Culinary Arts & Hospitality Conservatory audition requirements. Please note, the portfolio must be computer printed and stapled or bound in a flat report/presentation folder (no three-ring binders) and portfolios will not be returned. A headshot of the applicant must accompany the portfolio. Portfolio and video of academically approved applicants will be submitted to the Culinary team for review. All applicants will be notified via e-mail whether they have or have not been selected to move on to round two.

Round Two: On-Site Interview Applicants selected from Round One will receive an e-mail with information regarding an interview with Culinary Arts and Hospitality Conservatory staff. The interview will run approximately 15 minutes and consist of:

• Discussion of your essay

• Participation in a conversation centered around attitude, work ethic, passion, creativity, etc.
