The surveys also contained quesons regarding the calendar structure currently in place. The informaon was provided to the Board of Trustees for their consideraon regarding possible opons to support PLCs in the District and explore other possible calendar structures. This will be brought back to the Board as an agenda item in January. Teachers collaborang in Professional Learning Communies on November 20, 2015 SURVEY TO BE SENT IN JANUARY FOR NAMING OF NEW K-8 SCHOOL IN ROYAL OAKS SUBDIVISION In January, a survey will be sent out inving all of our parents, students, staff, and community to suggest names for our new K-8 school in the Royal Oaks subdivision, opening September 2017. STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE On November 30th, Carol Ann MacDonald met with this years Student Advisory Commiee. The Advisory Commiee is made up of students from Charles Spencer High School, the Composite High School and the Bridge Network. Mrs. MacDonald reported that this group of students is diverse, engaged and eager to share their ideas and thoughts with Administraon. The purpose of the commiee is to provide valuable input on maers that will make our District even greater. The Student Advisory Commiee will meet with the Superintendent and Director of Curriculum two more mes during the year.

BOARD APPROVES NEW 2016-2019

EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES PLAN Jeff Olson, Secretary-Treasurer, presented to the

Board the updated 2016-2019 Educational

Facilities Plan. The Grande Prairie Public School

District’s number one priority is a replacement of

the aging Composite High School, for at least

2000 student spaces. The updated Capital Plan

can be viewed in its entirety on our

website.

NEW ATTENDANCE AREAS FOR 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR As the District continues to work through the different elements of adjusting boundaries, we will be

communicating with school communities and impacted families in the new year. Please be sure to

read your child’s school newsletters as well as your school’s webpage and Facebook pages to ensure

you have the most up to date information. All information will be posted on www.gppsd.ab.ca.

BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Riverstone: Construction is on schedule. All the

windows are installed, the floors are poured, and the

interior framing and wiring is ongoing.

Isabel Campbell: Construction is slightly ahead of

schedule. The roof is complete, the windows are in,

and the interior framing is almost complete.

Ecole Montrose: Construction is progressing.

The steel structure is up on the addition and

they are working on closing it in.

Aspen Grove: Construction is going well. The link is

currently being roofed. It is expected the new modulars

will be set up by the end of April. Students can transfer

from the current modulars to the new modulars once

this is complete.
