KENNEY, Charles Newton Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, Charles "Newt" Kenney passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Ontario. Newt was born on May 15, 1925 in Windsor, Vermont, the son of the late Wilhelmina and Herbert Leo Kenney and younger brother of Bill Kenney (deceased). In 1950, Newt met, fell in love with, and married his sweetheart Mildred Williams. He is survived by his soul-mate Mildred, children Dave (Deb) Kenney, Claire (Kurt) Tamowski, and adoring grandchildren Trevor (Nina), Alicja, and Megan Tamowski, and Will Kenney. Newt excelled at everything he put his mind to. He was a true "shoe man" who started his lifelong career in the footwear industry as a pattern maker, and spent many years in both the manufacturing and retail shoe business. Newt was an avid baseball, hockey, golf, and all round sports buff, and delighted in sharing his sports knowledge with fans and non-fans alike. He was also a consummate story and joke teller who captivated his listeners with fascinating, memorable, and often hilarious tales from his past. Newt was a well-loved gentleman and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at 1421 Elgin St., Burlington, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make a donation to the charity of their choice. KUCHARENKO, Marjorie Irene Passed away peacefully at the Milton District Hospital on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her husband Jan. Email condolences may be made through www.koprivataylor.com KOZLOWSKI, Francis (Frank) John March 3, 1946 – May 29, 2011 Frank died, as he lived, with great courage and quiet dignity. His battle with cancer was intense and although he had dreamed of spending the summer months at home with his beloved wife, Renee, sadly 6 months after being diagnosed, he died with Renee at this side. After retiring in his late fifties, Frank found passion in his work as a school crossing guard for the town of Oakville. He had several early assignments and ended up at St. Marguerite D’Youville for the last seven years. Protecting the children in his charge was his primary focus but having fun was always part of the equation. Holiday gifts, jokes, riddles and dog cookies were his formula. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. He wished to thank his closest neighbors, Grace and Henry, everyone in his Falgarwood community and the families and staff at St. Marguerite for their caring support over the past months. PENALIGON, Florence Elizabeth Peacefully at her home in Oakville on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife for 65 years of Cliff Penaligon, mother of Jill Gear and Jack Penaligon and his wife Sharon and sister of Dorothy McLeod. Predeceased by sisters Patricia and Bernice. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sarah and Jonathan. Private family services have taken place.
