We recommend individual testing and have a colour code indicating sling size to facilitate a quick and easy selection.

Thereby an external angle adjustment of the suspension is redundant.
Unique Features The shoulder straps have the unique Molift sliding loops, to secure a comfortable and safe position for the patient. At the same time the clever design of the leg parts distributes the pressure for increased comfort. • A variety of installation options – integrate in the false ceiling, under the false ceiling, on the wall, on the floor with up right supports, etc.
• Can be installed in all types of ceilings, walls and floors.
With a traverse system it is possi- ble to cover the whole room, and be independent to do refurnish- ing or equipment changes. It is possible to integrate the primary rail to make a nice clean surface in the ceiling.
A single integrated rail offers a very discrete and nice solution. It is often recommended to choose simple and efficient solutions because they are easy to use.
With a Molift Free Standing Unit it is possible to offer a single rail or a Traverse System that is easy to install without the need of mounting anything in the ceiling or on the walls. It is ideal for situations where the need for a hoist is temporary.

Immedia SatinSheet System A COMPLETE IN-BED SYSTEM FOR TURNING AND POSITIONING
User-friendly moving and handling solutions are critical to ensure safe working environments. Immedia SatinSheet is a carefully designed system of base sheets and draw sheets that work together to make positioning and transfer easier for users and carers. As it is an in-bed system, no application or removal of the product is required.
Immedia SatinSheet System reduces friction between the user and the bed. By reducing friction, two major challenges are addressed and decreased: • The workload on the caregivers, that reduces work-related injuries. • The shear forces on the patient, that reduces the risk of pressure sores.
INTENDED USE
• In bed system, whether independent or assisted user • Turning in bed • Positioning in bed • Moving higher up in bed

4WayGlide & TwinSheet4Glide Introduction This workbook looks at the 4WayGlide and TwinSheet4Glide in bed systems for positioning users with complex needs. It includes “how to” videos, a look at single handed care, bariatric users, incontinent users, pressure care, optimal positioning and safe transfers with contributions by Mike Cowan-Jones, Independent OT with ARMS Rehab Ltd.
4WayGlide This in-bed system is for turning and positioning immobile users with ease, either manually, often with a single carer or with a hoist. It can be used on pressure care mattresses and is ideal for use with a profiling bed. It is available in 2 sizes - standard or bariatric and can be used with some of the most challenging cases whether bariatrics or complex medical conditions. The 4WayGlide consists of a nylon base sheet and a top quilt (either breathable PU or cotton polyester). The underside of the glide mattress and the nylon sheet combine to provide an ultra-low friction surface for movement in all directions for easy turning and positioning.
Turning a Patient Using the 4WayGlide and hoist
TwinSheet4Glide System This 2 part glide mattress is for turning and positioning incontinent users with complex needs - very limited mobility, dementia, pressure sores or bariatric patients. To further assist the carer with turning the patient, it can be used with a hoist (see page 5). Disconnecting the lower part of the glide mattress provides easy access for personal hygiene, care of pressure sores and dressing.
Manual Handling 29
4WayGlide & TwinSheet4Glide Single Handed Care There are significant benefits in using products that promote single handed care, including lower costs and a positive impact on a users privacy and general well being. The 4WayGlide and TwinSheet4Glide systems enable users to be moved safely, with minimal disruption, with and without a hoist and using a minimal number of carers.
Incontinent users In addition to the benefits of the 4WayGlide, the TwinSheet4Glide system is designed for incontinent, immobile users. The split design of the Twinsheet makes delivering personal care easier. As shown right, the bottom half of the sheet is removed for personal care. It can be used for patients with behavioural challenges, dementia, spasms, seizures and bone metaseses (cancer). As Mike explains: “For palliative care when clients find hands on care painful, the 4WayGlide/ TwinSheet provides a dignified alternative. It is compatible with pressure relieving mattresses and is comfortable for the client”
Bariatric users The 4WayGlide system can reduce the number of carers needed bariatric users. It allows easy, low friction movement and provides a permanent on the bed solution where clients require frequent repositioning, enhancing dignity and reducing the risk of injury to the client and carers. The system comes in a wider option to fit bariatric beds.
Pressure Relief & Shear Reduction In the UK pressure ulcer care costs £1.4bn – 2.1bn per year. More than 90% of the cost of treatment is the cost of nursing time. The best way to prevent pressure ulcers is pressure distribution and minimising shear and friction and also frequent repositioning. The 4WayGlide system reduces the amount of handling required to move a client. As it stays on the bed, it can help as part of the treatment of existing pressure sores and reduces the risk of developing pressure sores.

Fall Safe Hip Protectors Description Hip protectors all share a common basic concept—a pair of pads held in position over the widest part of the hips by a specially designed undergarment. While various undergarments have been designed for a variety of preferences, it is the design and composition of the protective pads that play the major role in determining which hip protector is likely to be most effective and most accepted.
Features and Benefits
Solving the Hip Fracture Crisis Falls are common in long-term care facilities, woith devasting and costly consequences. Yet despite widespread use of fall prevention programs, falls continue to occur at an alarming rate and incidence of hip fractures remains high – placing both residents and failities at risk.
• HIP’s Fall-Safe protectors are easily removed or inserted in a few seconds • Only necessary for the user to own 1 pair of protectors with 4 pairs of underpants. • This makes the package much more economic than if a pair of pads is sewn into each pair of
underpants. • Pants or protectors can be ordered separately. The pants are provided in Female, Male and optionally,
Unisex, versions. Incontinence versions can also be supplied.
Size/Ordering • Pants or protectors can be ordered separately. • The pants are provided in Female, Male and
optionally, Unisex, versions. • Incontinence versions can also be supplied.
Flexibility • The unique D3O material makes the pads soft
and pliable. • Unlike most pads, they are comfortable enough
to wear even in bed without disturbing sleep. • This is particularly important given that many
falls occur at night when getting out of bed, often when lighting is poor and when, in care facilities, staff levels tend to be lowest.
Shape • Guided by professional understanding of the
clinical requirements, these soft, custom-designed pads are carefully engineered to conform perfectly to the underlying anatomy, unlike the flat (and larger) discs of many other hip protector pads.
• The concave shape is designed to produce minimal pressure contact over the widest portion of the hips (greater femoral trochanter).
Profile • Less than 18mm (3/4 inch) thin, Fall-Safe Hip
Protectors are sculpted with beveled edges and contoured to be almost unnoticeable under clothing.
Breathability • Fall-Safe Hip Protector pads uniquely feature
both grooves and “breathing” holes to allow heat and moisture to escape.
The Impact of Hip Fractures • 300,000 people suffer a life changing hip
fracture every year in the US • 20% of hip fracture patients die within one year • Hip fractures represent 40-60% of fall-related
injuries in nursing homes • The average number of falls per bed per year is
1.5, and ranges up to 3.6 • Average cost for inpatient hip fracture care is
$29,000 – overall cost can rise to $400,000

Etac Prio
Wheelchairs 41
Etac Prio – dynamic comfort By changing seat and back angles and adjusting the elevating leg supports, you can vary body position and pressure points, which is important for seating comfort. But the Etac Prio achieves more than this through it's dynamic features.
When the back is reclined, the dynamic pelvic support releases the tension, giving the user a relaxed reclined position. The head support follows the same dynamic principle: It moves slightly backwards when raising the wheelchair user to an upright position, which gives the user freedom to move the head. Thanks to the Comfort Tilt Lock, there isno risk in unintentionally leaving the userin too upright a position as the tilt lock automatically stops the tilt at a pre set angle, ensuring a relaxed and safe position.
Wheelchairs 42
Innovations
When the back support is reclined, the tension in the pelvic strap is automatically released, letting the wheelchair user sink back.
When the back supportis brought to an upright position, the Dynamic Pelvic Support retightens the tension and gives a firm support.
Dynamic Pelvic Support This unique function offers both stability in an upright position and comfort when reclined. This is how it works:
Comfort Tilt Lock When bringing the wheelchair user to an upright position, the Comfort Tilt Lock will stop the tilt in a comfortable, slightly reclined position. To adjust the tilt angle further upright, just press the tilt lever again and give a little push. The Comfort Tilt Lock can be set at 0°, 4°, 8° or 12° tilt.
When the back support is reclined, the tension in the pelvic strap is automatically released, letting the wheelchair user sink back.
When the back supportis brought to an upright position, the Dynamic Pelvic Support retightens the tension and gives a firm support.

Etac Cross 5 – A platform of possibilitiesThe Etac Cross 5 offers an unparalleled range of adjustments allowing it to be tailored to individual needs.
Improved activity and mobility Etac Cross 5 offers many options for individual settings that create comfort and trunk stability. The frame s rigidity and “fine tune” settings for propulsion make the Cross 5 quick to react, even for users with low activity levels. This is important for increased mobility and activity.
Unique frame design Our efforts to design the best folding wheelchair in the world didn’t stop at the seating. By combining our unique moulded side frame with our strongest double cross brace, we removed flex from the frame to create a very stable platform. This means that more of the effort from pushing goes into propelling the chair forwards rather than that energy being absorbed by the chair
Bengt Engström tells us about Bengt Engstrom, PT, seating consultant and appreciated seminar presenter has made an evaluation of the Cross 5 back support.
Wheelchairs 47
What makes Etac Cross 5 unique? Here are a few features that answer that question.
Frame sides Our aluminum frame sides are moulded in one piece so are not welded. The strong base, offers many adjustment options to customise for the user.
Double cross frame The double square tubes connect directly to the lower part of the frame sides and the seat tubes connect to the upper part. When locked into position they stabilize the frame giving the properties of a rigid framed wheelchair.
Rear wheel attachment plate Cross 5 offers 38 different rear wheel positions! The seat height can be set as low as 14”. The same anti tippers can be adjusted for all seat heights.
Front seat height adjustments Front seat height adjustmentsChoose castor and fork size. The castor has three alternative height positions in the fork. The castor housing is also adjustable in height.
Back and seat cushion covers – We love plush! Made of a soft and stretchy plush fabric, it contours perfectly to the back strap tension and distributes the pressure over a larger surface area. The covers have been successfully tested for wear and tear, stretching and breathability qualities and their reaction to UV and washing. Now also OEKO -TEX certified ».
Fitted hygiene covers Cross 5 is also available with fitted back and seat hygiene covers, made of Dartex. They are water repellent with welded seams which ensure that the foam padding is protected from moisture. They are also very easy to clean.
Wheelchairs 48
A combination of height, angles and contour. The 3A back has both lower and lumbar angle adjustments. This means that the pelvis and thoracic spine can be carefully supported. All back support adjustments are interdependent, which means that a change such as lumbar angle may result in a readjustment of the back straps. A substantial advantage of the 3A back support is that you can do the adjustments with the user sitting in the Cross 5.
How to work with the 3A Back SupportBefore the client is seated in the Cross 51. Set the desired back support height Once seated in the chair, further adjustments can be made (+/- 25mm). If greater adjustment than this is needed, the user will need to transfer from the chair. Always include the height of the seat cushion when setting the back height.
2. Check the lower back support angle In most cases it is recommended to have the seat to back angle between 91-95°.
3. Start with a low tension in the back straps Individual strap adjustment can then ensure the back support moulds and provides support in the right places for the user.
4. Place the back cover over the back support Make sure the cover creates a “pocket” in between the seat and the backrest. This further ensures that the user will have improved back support without forcing the pelvis posteriorly.
When positioning client into the Cross 5 1. Place and prepare chosen seat cushion correctly on the seat. 2. Make sure the client is positioned with contact to the back support from the seat base. 3. If needed, change the lower back angle.

Case study: Lauren, 11 years
Lauren has Cerebral Palsy and her previous wheelchair provided inadequate support. Lauren also sank into her seat causing kyphosis. She pushed against the fixed footplate which meant she was often in a poor position. Her family sought a replacement wheelchair that could provide optimal back support for a growing child and the correct seating position to resolve these issues.

Night Positioning 90
Much of the work we do positioning the client requires stabilisation of the trunk, here we use either PADDED CURVED WEDGES or TRI-FOLDS.
The PADDED CURVED WEDGE
The TRI-FOLD bracket and pad
The TWIN SIDE ROLLS are a positioning element to centralise posture, o en used for ‘Peg Fed’ clients requiring elevation during feeding. There is also a full body version.
The W LEG TROUGH, a truly remarkable solu on delivering correct posi oning at hips and knees.
The W LEG TROUGH, with the WRAP drawn over giving the nal posture.
The W LEG TROUGH, for clients demonstrating more tonal external rota on we use a TWIN WRAP, which enables individual tension on each leg.
The W LEG TROUGH, now has an op on for a full cradle support.
The T ROLL, on the outside a T but inside the construction is two rolls allowing for very specific adjustment of filling.
The T ROLL is an excellent item that can easily be used incorrectly, on the left the legs are in alignment and the feet safely planted, the right illustrates a poor hip posture and potential pressure points around the feet.
BODY
LEGS
Night Positioning 91
HEAD
The NECK RING, used either over or under a pillow gives a keyed position.
The STAR, shown here with one point turned under to give positioning.
The STAR, all points turned and given extra support from a SMALL CURVED WEDGE
The SMALL WEDGE, used either on its sloped or upright faces gives good head positioning, a pair can be used.
The HEAD BLOCK, an excellent item that gives ultimate control; it is also necessary to stabilise the body as seen on the right.
SIDE POSTURE
The BODY ROLL and LARGE PILLOW, with the roll under the neck and through the groin a stable posture can be achieved, it is possible to supplement the roll with support if needed.
The BODY ROLL and LARGE PILLOW, for clients presenting with scoliosis/kythosis their posture has them rolling forwards on one side, in this instance the BODY ROLL is placed down the front.
The BODY ROLL can be used to help someone stretch, in this posture the right side benefits, not a recommended sleeping position, note the compression on the left side.
Night Positioning 92
EXTREME LEG POSTURES
The above posture shows extreme WINDSWEEPING, gravity and poor positioning have brought both legs over with associated contracture at the knees. By rotating the clients legs to mid-line and positioning the T ROLL we can achieve an improved posture, once the legs are repositioned a simple BRACKET offers support. This intervention is mainly focused on pressure management and improving personal care
The TWIN LEG WEDGE, used for clients who although can achieve mid-line leg posture are contracted at the knee, the wedges are client specifically sized. ITEMS SHOWN HERE ARE WORK IN PROGRESS ITEMS, FINISHED ITEMS ARE FULLY DRESSED IN FOAM AND HAVE A REMOVABLE COVER.
The INSIDE LEG WEDGE, with many Neuro clients we see presentations which require the need to position one leg, we can support from the inside.
ITEMS SHOWN HERE ARE WORK IN PROGRESS ITEMS, FINISHED ITEMS ARE FULLY DRESSED IN FOAM AND HAVE A REMOVABLE COVER.
All wedge configurations incorporate a heelcup, often by design for issue viability issues we can lift the foot off the bed.
POSITIONING THE SYSTEM
The MATTRESS COVER is a ed sheet which is ‘Hook and Loop’ receptive so elements can be firmly positioned.
The THERAPY MAT is used without a bed and being ‘Hook and Loop’ receptive the elements can be firmly positioned. It has been used in rebound therapy as well as to line sensory rooms.
By utilising external supports as well as the bed frame and rails, elements can be positioned without the need for a Mattress Cover.
Night Positioning 93
Snooooooze Position. Comfort. RestT ROLL OPTIONS The snooooooze T Roll’s soft profile allows moulding to the clients shape and therefore gives greater support. It’s important the feet presentwell to the bed surface and the legs are well aligned with a good pelvic position. An indicator of a poor postural position is illustrated with the legs ‘hugging’ the pommel, as ‘right’. Here we have potential rubbing of the legs/feet and the hips are outwardly rotated.
For some clients the standard T Roll will allow some supine to side repositioning. Often supplementary support is needed, as is some support for the upper foot.
The curved TRoll configura-tion came froma demand to allow the client to easily reposition from supine to side, the reduced size of the ends allows the bottom leg to be aligned correctly and the wrap holds the legs in position. Often supplementary support is needed for the upper foot.
The DoublePommel T Roll is a wonderfulconfiguration that adds the ability to give positioning to the lower legs

W LEG TROUGH CENTRE CELL The Centre Cell can be manufactured as an individual cell to allow for retention and increased stuffing.
CENTRE CELL To give greater abduction the Centre Cell configuration can have solid foam, as can any cell, in the Three Cell option.
THREE CELL To give greater flexibility there is the three cell configuration, which with an empty lower section offers a much flatter element and can take solid fill if required in any of the upper three cells.
TWIN WRAP All centre cell and three cell configurations can have the wrap sewn in the centre to give independent wraps for each leg. The Twin Wraps are made from Dartex. This addresses clients who cross their legs within the W Leg Trough.
OUTER SUPPORT FRAME To introduce greater support and framing we can give the W Leg Trough a full outer cradle.
THERMAL REGULATION COVERS All sizes can be fitted with a distinctive blue second outer cover to address Thermal Regulation, not only will this help with cooling butwill also re-heat if needed.
