O How He Loves You and MePastor Stephen Kaneshiro

is simply unfathomable. Think about the amount of verbal abuse and the amount of character assassi-nation that He has to endure. Yet, no matter how vile the abuse or the character assassination may be, He is still willing to forgive and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The word of God tells us that there is only one unforgivable sin and that is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, that means to reject and turn away from the Lord once and for all time. Any and every other sin can be and will be forgiven and cleansed when one turns to the Lord and asks Him for forgiveness. Wow! How amazing! He has taken so much abuse from all of us, but He still comes up loving and forgiving us. “O how He loves you; O how He loves me; O how He loves you and me!” Doesn’t that thrill and excite you! Doesn’t that humble you!I am greatly humbled to know that He loves me so much that I so don’t deserve it, but He craves to grant me His love. I am even more humbled to know that there is absolutely nothing that I can ever do that is great enough to earn His love and grace. All I can do is to accept it and to submit myself to loving and obeying Him in order that I might someday bring glory and honor to Him. I am humbled and gratified by Jesus and His awesome love for you and me.

During the years that I have been your pastor, I have been attempting to tell you and to lead you into loving Jesus with all of your heart, mind, and

soul. The Word of God tells us that this is the Greatest Command and therefore, this is the command that we should all concentrate on the most. By loving Jesus in this manner, we would seek to be pleasing to Him in every way. We would seek to be like Him. His desires would become our desires and His goals would become our goals.This focus and drive is what I believe Jesus desires all of us to have. His Word shouts it to all of us and daily He confirms it through all of His acts of love and grace. I am humbled and yet captivated by the words of the song that says: “O how He loves you and me, He gave His life – what more could He give? O how He loves you; O how He love me; O how He loves you and me!” Aren’t the words of that song just beautiful? Isn’t the truth of those words just gripping and captivating to all of us? It is breathtak-ing to know how much God loves us!!!Have you also ever heard it said that He spared nothing to demonstrate His love for you? He did not even spare His only begotten Son for you. If He did not spare anything to love you, do we really have the right to say, “That wasn’t enough and I want you to do another thing in my life.” How much nerve does one have to muster up in order to tell God that He has not done enough? Yet many, and I hope and pray that they are doing this in ignorance, actually do this to Him by the attitudes we may hold and words that we may say to Him when things get really tough for them. His love for us shows that His mercy and forgiveness

Yes, there are many bad circumstances that happen to us and to the many that surround us. It is legitimate to ask the question, “Why does evil happen to good people and even inno-cent people?” In order to properly answer this question, we need to put our minds and hearts into the proper mode. We need to realize that God set up His only begotten Son, Jesus, to experience evil of the greatest magnitude when He was accused falsely, tried corruptly, and killed inhumanely. Then after proving His unmerited love for us, He continues to face our unjust accusations and demands, but then forgives us completely upon our sincere plea for forgiveness. We do not have to do anything but to sincerely ask for forgiveness. That seems so unfair to be granted that kind of grace and mercy. It is not because we deserve it, but because He desires it.What a God of love! What a God of grace! What a God of mercy! O how He loves you and me and aren’t you grateful??? Give Him all of your love and seek to bring glory and honor to Him!!!

The Woodies WhereaboutsNew Horizons in 2019

As Michael’s opportunity drew near to share his story he became more nervous and asked me (Dakota) if I had time to listen to him practice. We went to a back room, I could tell he was a little uneasy. He read aloud what he had prepared. When he finished I was grateful to know God worked in his life so much this past year. Michael stepped out in faith by sharing his testimony at our Winter Retreat.

Winter Retreat was fruitful in many ways. We had a great time connect-ing with FLC & CMU students over

the weekend. The theme of the retreat was ‘Rethinking Family,’ we dove into the different aspects of our relation-ships God has given us and how to navigate through them. God is not only continuing to establish a community of students at the Fort who desire to follow Jesus through these retreats but in our weekly meetings/events. It’s such a blessing to watch this unfold.

As for Rachael and I, we have had a challenging beginning of the year so far. We believe God is doing some great things in and through students’ lives, God is showing me he does not need us to do ministry. He has chosen us to be here and use us in spite of us. Rachael stays busy with the many girls she works with and I am learning more of how to lead out in the way God has built me. Please pray we can walk by faith to trust God in continuing to balance marriage and ministry. By God’s great grace and mercy, we are able to write to you and share a glimpse of God working in our lives. Praise God He is in control!

Bonding Unity. It’s so neat to see a group of people, all unique and different, bond through their shared love for the Savior. Students are grow-ing in a way to really take more ownership of their faith together.

Prayer RequestBalance marriage & ministry, FLC students to continue to grow with Jesus, Pro-Life outreach, community to grow, Discipleship Legacy Summer Project & students to register, FLC staff team transitions.

Obituary

November 30, 2002 - March 3, 2019Sean Ethan Cashen

16 years old, born and raised on Maui, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2019.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019. at Ballard Family Mortuary.

A family gathering will be held at 8am. The chapel will be open to the public at 9am

and the service starts at 10am. Lunch follows.

A paddle out to scatter the ashes of Sean Ethan and his late father Rudie John Cashen, who passed away April 29, 2016 will take place on that same day at 2:00pm at Kanaha Beach. There will be music and hula to celebrate Sean Ethans colorful life. He was survived by his mother, Massy Cashen-Suguitan, step-father Dominic Suguitan, and grandparents Manny and Carol Suguitan.

He is also survived by cousin Sara Andreola and Aunty Salvie Andreola. Cousins, Mark Louie, Mark Anthony, Mark Angelo and Jennifer Tojon. Uncle Eddie and Aunty Thelma Tajon. Cousins Princess Gold, Eden, Mary Rose, John Michael and Aidie Bregala. Aunty Edna and Uncle Aidie Bregala. Cousins Florence Marie Drona. Cousins Ethan and Kalani George. Praise for my wife’s back operation on November 26. The surgeon is well pleased. She is recovering well. During the surgery, they discov-ered that she had borderline ovarian cancer. She had a hysterectomy January 26. February 8, she had a post-op appointment. All of the cancer was removed, but there were a few malignant cells in the saline. She will be on pills indefinitely. Please pray the medicine kills the remaining cancer cells.

*Wassulu of Mali, Guinea, and Cote d’Ivoire(WAH-soo-loo) - In January, you were asked to pray for the village of “Kingsland,” which is new to those working in the Wassulu region, where a “Net the Vil-lage” (NtV) project was to be implemented, show-ing the love of God in a tangible way to the people there who had never heard the gospel. NtV gives a mosquito net to every family with young children in an effort to fight the contraction of malaria by a mosquito bite, especially as they sleep. Praise the Lord that all the logistics for purchasing and delivery of the mos-quito nets to the remote village went smoothly! Give thanks that this simple gesture opened the doors to multiple opportunities to declare God’s love for those living in “Kingsland” and to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray today for those who heard the gos-pel, asking that their minds will continue to dwell on the truth that was shared with them during the NtV project. Please pray that many will come to under-stand and believe, as 1 Peter 1:23 (ESV) states, that “[they] have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.”

CanadaMost of Canada could be described as either post-Christian or secular. Although the number of evangelicals across the country is growing, there is much work still to be done so that every person has the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Christ. Pray for church planters to be discovered in Canada’s major cities to plant where they live-especially Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Pray for the Lord to raise

up aboriginal Canadians who will plant First Nations churches across Canada.“Pray that God will help my family through the adoption process.
