Finding a job can be a long and exhausting process. You need to put the time in at each stage, be that updating your CV, completing application forms or preparing for interviews. So what's the best way to stay on top of everything and ensure you maximise your chances of success? Firstly you need to make a plan. Having a strategy in place is fundamental. Decide what your goal is (to get a job by a certain date, to find work in a particular sector etc.) How are you going to achieve this? What steps do you need to take and how are you going to ensure you maintain focus? Being organised is also very important. If you are applying for a lot of jobs, you need to stay on top of everything so that if a recruiter or employer gets in touch with you, you know straightaway which job they are talking about and what stage in the process you are at. Consider creating a tracking document to record applications you have made. Include deadlines, job descriptions and any other key information. Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Know what you are good at and what you need to work on so you are ready for the application and interview process. Ensure your CV is up-to-date and tailor it according to different job specifications. Keep it short and to the point and be prepared to give examples of any skills you state you have. Revamp your online presence by updating your LinkedIn profile and looking at following some relevant company social media accounts. BLOG
