  • Words of Wisdom Q. What is the most special thing about the school for you? Dixit Ma’am(21 yrs) - Nath Valley gives you im-

mense freedom to explore. A wide range of oppor-

tunities are given to improve yourself and grow.

Sharda Ma’am (25 yrs) – The best thing about the

school for me is moving in the campus. Over the years

the greenery has increased and the campus has spread.

The infrastructure is now developed and this atmos-

phere makes me feel very happy. The school has grown

by leaps and bounds and the best part is that I have

been a part of it since its inception.

Sarabjit Ma’am (23 yrs) – The most amazing thing

about NVS is that I have grown here. It is just like a

home away from home for me. It has been as much of

a learning experience for me as it has been for the stu-

dents. I have learnt from seniors as well as juniors and

it has been a great journey.

Hood Ma’am (25 yrs) – At NVS we get the freedom

as a teacher. I can take classes as I want without any

    interference.

Smita Ma’am (24 yrs) - Nath Valley School provides

great facilities for sports. It is the only school in Au-

rangabad with a Squash court. A lot of opportunities

are given to budding sportspersons to perform at the

    national and state levels.

Kale Ma’am (20 yrs) – At Nath Valley you get a lot of

opportunities to develop yourself. Students are helped

to transform into all-rounders and good human beings

while teachers benefit by becoming better professionals

and human beings as well. The school also believes in

“Change for better” and listens to everyone including

parents, teachers as well as students for its betterment.

Rafiq Sir (20 yrs) - The school helps in all round de-

velopment of the students and has an excellent atmos-

phere. The students get quality education with co cur-

ricular activities and sports. My journey with the school

has been exceptional. I have grown over the years with

    the school.

Shelar Ma’am (19 yrs) – The best thing about NVS is

that you get the freedom to teach in our own style. As a

teacher you develop in all areas and can explore new

things. There are no restrictions and we get full liberty.

It also gives various opportunities from which we can

learn a lot. The continuous activities going on in the

school keep you on your toes and active all the time. Nath Valley is a happy place to work at.

    Tête-à-tête with the Man Himself

    -Mr. Ranjit Dass

Q1. How has your life as a principal changed in the past 25 years? Ans. When I first came here as a principal in 1992, life was very simple because there were only 80 students and 8 teachers and we had a school building not so far away from the city. There were very few rules and regulations for private schools back then, so you could make your own systems. Now in 25 years, while it is nice that I have almost 1300 students in the school, it certainly makes life more complicated and there are a lot of rules and regulations even for private schools. It does not allow the Principal to do innovations and there are a lot of im-pediments to good administration. Q2. What was your vision for the school when it began and what is it now? Ans. My vision for the school was to start something in Au-rangabad with an Indian syllabus but with the best practices that were being followed at the global level. In other words, I wanted that there should be an international atmosphere within an Indian curriculum. This was a great success and that is why our students are doing so well in universities and colleges throughout the world. Now my vision for the future is to inte-grate technology i.e. ICT into the regular education system in a meaningful manner without getting too dependent on it and at the same time keeping in touch with the latest innovations of the world. Q3. What inspired you to become a teacher? Ans. My career as a teacher was totally unplanned. I had planned to join the IAS or the IFS and if not, go to the US and do an MBA in International Finance. However, just as I was finishing my MA in St. Stephen’s College, Woodstock School contacted me and said that they needed a history teacher. Since I had done a BA and MA in history, I went there and was im-mediately appointed. I told them I would be there for 1 year because I will either get into the IAS or IFS or go to the US. In 3 months I started liking teaching very much; I liked Wood-stock very much; I liked the mountains so much that I decided I will not do anything else other than keep on teaching. The fact that I stayed on in teaching until now is because I was inspired by the success of my students and their tremendous grateful-ness to teachers like myself for what we had done in their lives. Q4. Which moment of the school will you never forget? Ans. There are so many moments that were exciting and mem-orable that I can’t name any one of them. The first good results of CBSE, the tremendous performance of my students in na-tional level sports and other events and just the growth of the school have been exciting. Q5. Who has been the student who you think will inspire the present generation at NVS? Ans. There are so many students who have done exceptionally well and have inspired not only the students but also inspired me and teachers, that it is difficult to name one. But the kind of students who inspire others and bring a good name to the school are people like Swetha Bhogale, whom you heard re-cently who is doing a PhD at Harvard and worked at MIT. Ar-jan Nirh who worked at Microsoft and is currently working at a company called Yelp in San Francisco but eventually, wants to start his own. Then we have Anant Kale who got an exception-

ally high score in the SAT ex-am and is now in the top uni-versity of the world, CalTech, and Saloni Sahai who was the topper in our tenth and is now an IFS officer posted in China. Likewise there are many others. I have just named a few.

  • 25 Glorious Years of NVS

29th June 1992 dawned as a day that marked the be-ginning of the journey of an institution which grew to become one of the most renowned schools in the country. It’s been 25 years since that day and Nath Valley School has acquired laurels in every field that can be thought of. The greatest achievement of the school, however, is the love and pride that its student associate it with.

Everyone deserves a chance to prove their capabili-ties and the school has provided a platform for this, which is reflected by its own example. From 8 teachers and 80 students in 1992, to over 1230 stu-dents with a staff of over 80 teachers, the school has grown not only in size and stature, but also in reputation and accomplishments.

The alumni will agree that it has been the school that has moulded them into the strong characters that they now are. As an institution it has nurtured its students as sensitive people with strong values, who will leverage their individual achievements to strengthen the fabric of the community, the nation and the planet, making them world citizens, indeed fulfilling Nath Valley School’s mission statement “We believe in educating children to be world citi-zens, devoid of prejudices, and honest to them-selves. We challenge them to learn with pleasure and achieve perfection in whatever they do, prepar-ing themselves for a future of their choice as proud Indians. ”

This silver jubilee is a celebrative milestone in the journey of this vision.
