NUST shines at National University of Singapore Summer Programme
The National University of Singapore conducts a two weeks summer program on Economic & Enterprise Development. The program was conducted from July 18 to 19 under the supervision of Dr. Kau Ah Kang.

NCSC Holds Free Eye CampFree Eye Camp was set up on June 28 in Medical Centre, H-12 NUST Campus, in collaboration with Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology (AFIO) that was open for the students, Faculty, Families and Staff of NUST.
PNEC participates in Fromula Student Racing Competition in UK
Formula NUST Racing team of PNEC participated in “Formula student Competition” at Silverstone, UK from July 3 to 7. The team comprised of 25 students, including 5 female students headed by a team faculty Advisor Dr. Nadeem Ahmed. It is worth mentioning that the team represented National University of Sciences and Technology at the event and was the only team selected from Pakistan.
Design the Studio workshop at SADAThe one-week workshop, "Design the Studio" was organized by the Board of Architectural Education (BAE) and the Institute of Architects in Pakistan (IAP) from July 1 to 5 and conducted by Prof. Thomas Daniell and Prof. Nuno Soares.

NBS Job Fair 2013NBS organized Job Fair on July 5 at H-12 campus Islamabad. The event was meant for graduating batches. A total of 39 companies and organizations from industry and corporate sector used this platform to hire and interact with talented graduates.
NBS Networking NightNBS, Centre of Industrial Linkages (CIL) and Student Affair Office organized NBS Networking Night on July 5. The aim of Networking Night was to help maintain close relationship with Alumni and provide them with an opportunity to create a bond between their parent institution, corporate world and fresh graduates.
First NUST Employees Cricket TournamentMaiden cricket tournament for employees at NUST was organized under the supervision of Deputy Director Sports, from July 1 to 8. The tournament witnessed the participation of NUST Staff and consisted of 6 teams from NUST Schools and Directorates.

IESE Job FairOn June 27, Institute of Environmental Sciences & Engineering (IESE) participated in SCEE open house/job fair event under the guidance of Principal SCEE. Number of local and foreign companies from all around Pakistan participated in the event and displayed their work. Country Director Oxfam, inaugurated the event and offered number of new internships for NUST students.

International Science
Olympiad in Iran
NUST was invited to the International Scientific Mathematics and Chemistry Olympiad held
in Tehran, Iran, in August and the task of team selection was given to NUST Science Society
(NSS). Hence NSS held screening procedures to choose five lucky participants for the
Olympiad.
For Mathematics, the selected students were Zainab Mubasher, Sadia Khalid and Hassan
Nadeem while for Chemistry, Maria Majeed and Usman Salahuddin were chosen.

IGIS student intern in SwitzerlandMuhamamad Mateen Mahmood, student at Institute of Geographical Information Systems (IGIS), SCEE was selected for a two month fully funded internship at Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Lausanne). EPFL is the 18th top-ranked engineering research and teaching institution that attracts some of the best intellects in the world.

Ufone concluded its Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2013 on October 17 by organizing a Recognition and Graduation Ceremony at Islamabad Club. Ufone ran a series of campus drives throughout the country covering top 20 universities including NUST whereby the campus drive entailed online assessment and interviews for selection of quality candidates.

Trash to Model 2.0Second edition of Trash to Model was held on the November 11 and the entire plan was executed by the NUST Environment Club (NEC). The participants, with three team members on each table were provided a number of accessories such as glue, tape, newspapers, cardboard, scissors and other things that were required to build upon their theme for the competition. The theme selected for the models was 'Wildlife'.

Intra -NUST Table tennis tournament at EME CollegeAn Intra NUST Table Tennis (Men and women) competition was held from November 9 to 10 at College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, Rawalpindi. Five teams including H-12, MCE, AMC, EME and MCS participated in the men’s category and H-12 Campus won the title by defeating all participating teams.

NUST Fine Arts Club Talent ShowThe first episode of NUST Fine Arts Club's (NFAC) talent hunt was organized at School of Art, Design and Architecture. Music, art and dance were among the many talents displayed.Talent Hunt was a competition held to bring out the diversity in students, and construct a much richer society for the Fine Arts Club.
NUST-SEECS held the grand welcome Party for its newly inducted class of 2013 on November 4.The concluding remarks were made by the Principal SEECS, who urged the students to aspire towards academic success and also maintain a fun and healthy social life.

College of E&ME Olympiad EME Olympiad 2013 was held from October 31 to November 3. With 56 events and over 3000 registrations from all across Pakistan, the Olympiad was an astounding success. It was a panorama of social, technical and arts events along with sports, robo-wars, sketching spree, wall climbing competitions, junk art, master chef and movie nerds being some of the notable events. Participants enjoyed the colorful and fun-filled activities while carnival rocked the house.
SADA Basic Art Exhibition 2013SADA organized an Exhibition on November 8 to celebrate the Student projects of Basics of Design and Architectural Design. The best projects of all four batches were highlighted and displayed.
ASME-PNEC Tech-fest 2013
ASME PNEC Student Section (APPS) organized annual technical festival TECHFEST 2013 at Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC). A guest lecture on “ASME-PNEC TECHFEST 2013” was also arranged by Engineering Sciences department on 20 November. Large number of PNEC students actively participated in the event.

NUST Adventure Club organized another trip to Mushkpuri top on November 10, which was open to all students of NUST. Participants equipped with the proper hike kit, departed from NUST around 0630 and reached. Mushkpuri hotel at 1100 hours. From there they hiked to Mukshpuri top which was expected to last for two and a half hours but due to the track being covered in snow the hike lasted for about 3 hours.

SEECS Jirga commenced on October 6 and continued till the month of November. The competition was based on a series of knock-out rounds. Speakers from each class took their turns for one minute each to deliver their arguments. Several such rounds ensued, after which both sides were given a couple of minutes to deliver the conclusion at the end of the match.

The first central NUST Alumni Homecoming was held at the H-12 campus on December
28. The festive evening was organized by NUST Alumni Association in official
collaboration with Mobilink Telecom Ltd. The event gave an opportunity for interaction

Coca-Cola National Science Bee competition
The NUST Science Society held its annual Science Bee Competition in official partnership with Coca-Cola
Beverages Pakistan Limited (CCBPL), from December 21 to 22 at the NUST H-12 campus.
The chief guest was the legendary scientist, Dr. Noor Muhammad Butt, who initiated nanotechnology research in
Pakistan.
NUST Adventure Club took a group of students to Saidpur Village at a rock climbing sight on December 7. The event was not a training session, but a selection round for an upcoming rock climbing competition.

NUST Sports Administration organized Intra NUST Squash Championship from 29 Nov to 1 Dec, 2013. After thrilling contests, EME team managed to clinch the trophy. COMDT, CAE was the chief guest. He presented trophy to the winning team.
NCSC members attend National Workshop on Safe Blood TransfusionAll Pakistan Intervarsity Rifle Shooting (Women) Championship 2013-14 was held at Gun & Country Club, PSB Islamabad from 21-25 December. NUST organized and hosted the championship in which seven women teams from different universities across Pakistan participated i.e. In the competition that followed, Punjab University grabbed first position while University of Lahore and GCU were first and second runner-ups respectively. Prizes were distributed by Mrs. Robina Anser to all medal winners, amounting Rs. 90,000.

Members of NUST Community Service Club participated in "Dialogue Session on Gender and Education in refugee affected and hosting area program" organized by UNHCR in collaboration with UNESCO & RAHA.
NUST Community Service Club held the 'General Membership Drive' in December which received a phenomenal response- resulting in making the club the largest in terms of number of associated students.

Annual Bilingual Declamation Contest- PNEC
Defence Authority College for Women organized the 21st Annual Bilingual Declamation Contest 2014 on January 28. Eighteen teams from all over Karachi participated in the event. S/Lt Noman Majeed PN representing Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC), NUST Karachi won 2nd prize in English Category while Talha Saleem won 2nd prize in Urdu Category.
This year’s NUST International Model United Nations (NIMUN ‘14) concluded on a high note at the main campus of the University on January 25. The opening ceremony, held at Centre for International Peace and Stability, was graced by Riaz Khokhar, an eminent Pakistani diplomat, as the chief guest.
Closing ceremony was held later that day in CIPS which was attended by UN Resident Co coordinator, Timo Pakkala. He appreciated the efforts of the students and declared it as an excellent effort to simulate the real UN. The event concluded with the mystical and spiritual Sufi night, featuring performances by Sae’en Zahoor and Arieb Azhar.

On the first day of the New Year, NUST Bazm-e-Pakistan arranged a session with Mushahid Hussain Syed to inspire the youth with his learned talk and to relive the era of Quaid-e-Azam.
Towards the end of the session, the results of NUST Bazm-e-Pakistan’s pre-held ‘Allama Iqbal Photo-essay Competition’ were announced, and the shields and prize money were awarded to the winners.

C3A arranges Counseling CampCounseling and Career Advisory (C3A) organized a Counseling Camp for students, faculty and staff. One of the key objectives was to raise awareness about mental health and ways to reduce self-created strains from our lives.

Wall Tracking Robot Competition in — College of E&ME
The Wall Tracking Robot Competition was held in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at College of E&ME, Rawalpindi on January 22. The objective of the competition was to design and fabricate a robot capable of traversing a path in a complex maze in the smallest amount of time. Commandant College of E&ME, Brig Jamil Sarwar Malik, who was the chief guest on the occasion, gave away the prizes to the winning teams.

Mubariz Ahmad: Pakistan's Tiger Woods Just nineteen years old Mubariz, has much to boast of at this young age. Bagging the first trophy of his life in 2004 at a local club tournament at the age of 9, he tasted the “buzz” of winning early on, and has not looked back since. He recently won his third consecutive Faldo Series Pakistan this year in January and will be representing Pakistan in the Grand Asian Faldo Grand Final .
NDDS Team brings home laurelsSome 37 teams showcased their scripts, including teams from US, Lebanon, Dubai, India and Turkey, and out of them 11 were selected, including NDDS script, to perform in front of Dubai theatre audience.

Nature Walk - NEC
NEC organized a hiking trip on Track-3 (Margalla Hills) to the Monal Restaurant at Peer Suhawa in collaboration with Development Communications Network (DEVCOM), Social Economic Environmental Development (SEED) and EvK2CNR. The basic purpose of this hiking trip, termed Mountain Eco-friendly Walk, was to help volunteers understand the value of preservation of the environment and its natural beauty.

Photo Hunt ‘14Photo Hunt ’14, the legacy of NUST Media Club returned on February 28, 2014 with a bang! A total of 60 teams participated in this year’s Hunt with each team comprising around five 4-5 members.

Intra NUST Hockey Competition was organized under the supervision of NUST Sports Branch from 14-16 February, 2014 at Military College of Engineering (MCE), Risalpur. MCE hosted the competition in which teams from AMC, MCS, E&ME, MCE and CAE participated. Brigadier Jafar, Commandant MCE was the Chief Guest for the event. The final of the tournament was played on 16 February, 2014 between CAE and AMC. CAE was able to score 3 goals against AMC and were declared the winner of the championship.

Nustians skittle many in Shell Eco Marathon, Manila
Pakistan Navy Engineering College team participated in Shell Eco Marathon held in Manila, Philippines from 6-9 Feb 2014. A total of six teams from Pakistan participated including two teams from PNEC, NUST. Two vehicles Prototype and Urban Concept in Gasoline Category were sent for the competition; both vehicles qualified technical and safety inspections prior to ‘On Track’ competition. Urban Concept Vehicle won 6th position, whereas Prototype Vehicle secured 11th position in the contest.

named Robowars (A lego robot based
competition) on 21st to 24th March 2014. In this
event 20 teams participated.
SMME students shine at THERMOCON ‘14THERMOCON’14 was organized by the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute in March 2014. THERMOCON is an annual event comprising various technical competitions that serve to test the engineering stamina of the students. SMME student’s team of Waqar Sarwar and Mian Muhammad Hamdoon participated in “Green Idea” and secured first position in the competition.

Dramafest ‘14Drama Fest ’14 took place on March 4. The event not only offered a welcome break from the hectic curriculum, but also a platform to showcase some of SEECS’ creative talent.
Fund Raising for Thar Victims
ACM SEECS Chapter organized a fund raising event for the victims of Thar. The event was conducted as a part of Community Service course. The council arranged a total amount of 100,000 Rs and donated it to Ibrar-ul-Haq's NGO called "Sahara for Life Trust". A seminar was also organized for this purpose on 27th March 2014.
World Water DayThe 22nd of March celebrates the “World Water Day” by the United Nation with the objective of raising global awareness about the water and its conservation and the importance of provision of clean water. To commemorate this day, Dr. Sher Jamal organized a national seminar IESE, NUST on 27th March.

E-Village is an NGO, working for Empowerment through ICT's in Pakistan.

Sports Gala 2014 closing ceremony— SEECS
The closing ceremony took place on 30th March after some much anticipated final matches of football, tennis and volleyball. Almost immediately after these last events concluded, the organizers rounded up all the students scattered across the grounds in an effort to assimilate them for the ceremony.
Intervarsity Hockey Championship 2013-14
Intervarsity Hockey Men Zonal Championship was held on 1-3 March 2014. Preston University
hosted the said competitions. The hockey team of AMC represented NUST in this event.
The final match of the championship played between Bahria University and National
University of Sciences & Technology.

Annual sports day Army Medical College 2013-201426th March, marked as the raising day of Army Medical College Rawalpindi, was also the annual day of sports week for the year 2013-2014. The event was officially declared open by Principal Army Medical College, Major General Salman Ali HI (M). Prizes were distributed among winners of the races. Winning teams of hockey,cricket,squash and football were presented with the shields. Students from 34th MBBS and 13th BDS were awarded with "Colors of AMC" for 2013-2014 in categories of athletics,hockey,cricket,squash,badminton, football and table tennis. Usman zeb became the best sportsman and Aaiza Iftikhar, the best sports woman for year 2013
Wall climbing
1st National Meeting of Science Societies
Wall climbing 3.0 was organized by the NUST Adventure Club (NAC) and held at the Ibex Sports Club on March 1. There were around 50 participants, all geared up for the wall climbing competition.
The President, NSS, Qassam Sarmad and Press Secretary, Anum Khan were invited to the 1st National Meeting of Science Societies organized jointly by Pakistan Council of Science and Technology (PCST), National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) and Tech TV on 22 March at PCST Islamabad. The objective of the meeting was to harmonize the efforts of all major science societies working in Universities of Pakistan and give them national projection to propel a ‘science culture’ in the country.

NUST Street Carnival NUST Street Carnival was held by the NUST Fine Arts Club on the evening of 18th
April 2014, with Djuice platinum sponsorship and Samaa-FM as official media partners.The event was inspired by the Carnivale de Venetia (The Venice Carnival), aiming to bring all the magic and mystique of the ‘city of gondolas’ to NUST. . All the constituent schools were invited to participate in various events, described below:
i. Venetian Parade: Groups of students, representative of their respective schools participated in a grand parade on the Scholar’s Avenue, boasting their school colours as the crowd cheered along.
ii. NUST Talent Show: This was a showcase of the NUST’s most talented students.

The NUST Community Service Club (NCSC) arranged a seminar of the CEO of Gogi Studios, Ms. Nigar Nazar on 8 April, 2014 (Tuesday) at SCEE Seminar Hall. This was Ms. Nigar’s second visit that was arranged by NCSC. Ms. Nigar previously delivered a Community Service Learning (CSL-401) lecture on 1st April, 2014. Ms Nigar has rendered over 40 years to pictorial and animated humor with a down to earth realism.

Faculty on the Line at SEECS
Each year IEEE-SEECS chapter organizes an event by the name of Faculty on the Line in which faculty from all the departments of SEECS participate in a game show and the student watch their faculty be a part of something other than the routine curriculum. The event progressed with many fun filled activities such as balancing cans on floating water in one minute and picture story.

Basketball Championship 2014Military College of Engineering (MCE) Basketball Championship 2014 was held from 14 to 17 April 2014.
All teams showed great zeal and enthusiasm during the tournament. The spectators witnessed an exciting final match between OD 76 and OD 80.
Intra NUST Chess Men Championship 2013-14Intra NUST Chess Men Competition was organized at Military College of Signals (MCS) on 5 April 2014. 4 teams participated in this competition i.e Islamabad Campus, E&ME, MCE and MCS.
The NCSC TABA team arranged a visit to the Saya School in Mera Akhu near the slums
of F-12, Islamabad on 5th and 12th April 2014. The NCSC TABA team visited the
school on 2 consecutive Saturdays with 50 volunteers from SEECS, NUST.
