Govardhan Ecovillage

Spread over scenic 100 acres of farmland in the lap of the Sahyadri mountains, Govardhan Ecovillage (GEV) is a project of ISKCON, located about 100 kms north of Mumbai

It is the result of an ardent desire to fulfil one of the primary purposes of ISKCON, as envisioned by Srila Prabhupada - "To erect for the members and society at large, a holy place of transcendental pastimes, dedicated to the personality of Krishna"

GEV is a model farm community based on the principle of ‘simple living, high thinking’

Srila Prabhupada

The leaders of the government must be very honest and religious because otherwise all the affairs of the state will suffer. When a Vaiñëava sees mismanagement in the government, he feels great compassion in his heart and tries his best to purify the situation by spreading the Hare Kåñëa movement. (SB 6.2.3 Purport)

It is a fact that Krishna desires to have His own men in the top posts. That is why after so much fighting in the Battle of Kuruksetra, only the five Pandavas remained, because they are devotees of Krishna and He likes it when His own men are serving in the top positions of leadership. (Letter to Amarendra, LA, 12 June, 1972)

I am very glad to hear that you are keeping active in the political arena, and if we are able to establish Krishna conscious leaders throughout the country in important posts, we will be able to save everyone from the present dangerous position of the world. (Letter to Balavanta, LA, 17 June, 1972)
