OVERVIEW OF SPECIAL WINTER CAMP 2014-2015 Bharati Vidyapeeth University Abhijit Kadam Institute of Management and Social Sciences, Solapur organized a NSS special winter camp 2014-15 at Nandani Tal: South Solapur Dist: Solapur. The camp was organized on 23rd February 2015 to 01st March 2015. There are 26 NSS volunteers participated in the camp. The camp was inaugurated on 23rd February 2015 at the hands of Mr. Dattatray Mandalik, SP Solapur. Mr. Balasaheb Shelake Solapur University Sinet Member was chairperson. Sabhapati of South Solapur Mr. Gurusiddha Mhetre was chief guest of the programme. Director of the institute Dr. V. S. Mangnale stated the objectives of the camp. The theme of camp was “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. In this camp different activities were scheduled such as Awareness Lecture Series, Cleanness Programme, Family wise Survey, Counselling about Toilets and Cleanness. Discussion with Mahila Bachat Gat and Yuva Mandal, Cultural Events. Series of awareness lectures also conducted on the social issues like Swachhatetun Samrudhhikade, Higher Education, and Rural Management. Every evening there were games and cultural activities organized by NSS volunteers. The Objectives of Camp:
1. To understand the community of Nandani Village and work to solve their problems 2. To identify the needs and problems of this village and put effort to solve that 3. To make awareness about Cleanness. 4. To conduct community oriented programmes 5. To give message of team work through effort works like cleanness. 6. To develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities 7. To inculcate healthy and good habits among the youth and to infuse in them the spirit of
national service 8. To conduct different programs on various current issues like Cleanness, Save Water,
Save Electricity, and Preserve Natural Resources.
INAUGURATION OF SPECIAL WINTER CAMP 2014-2015 Inauguration of Special Winter Camp 2014-15 held on 23rd February 2015 at 4 pm in Nandani Tal: South Solapur at the hands Mr. Dattatray Mandalik, SP Solapur. Mr. Balasaheb Shelake Solapur University Sinet Member was chairperson. Director of the institute Dr. V. S. Mangnale told about Bharati Vidyapeeth University and stated the objectives of the camp. Schedule of social awareness programmes during the camp highlighted by NSS programme officer Prof. V.N. More. Mr. Dattatray Mandalik SP, Solapur said that, there is need of social awareness for the development of Rural India. It is need to understand the community in which we work. Also he asked to volunteers to identify the needs and problems of the community and solve it by team work. He congratulated Bharati Vidyappeth NSS team for achieving State Level Road Safety Awareness Award and given best wishes for camp. Shri. Balasaheb Shelake said that, contribution of every person form village is required for rural development. There are many opportunities and chances for the development. It is need to approach with schemes and programs available for the rural development. It is need to promote the social activities for the social awareness. At that time Sabhapati of South Solapur Shri. Gurusiddha Mhetre, Sarpanch Shri. Chidanand Surwase, Dep. Sarpanch Mr. Shivanand Shivsharan, Dr. A.B. Nadaf, Prof. P.P. Kothari and NSS volunteers and peoples were present.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES 1. NSS Volunteers meet Sarpanch of Nandani Shri. Chidanand Surwase on 24/02/2015 at 9
am and asked geographical, historical, political, educational and Social information of their village. They discussed about Schemes and other facilities provided through Gram Panchayat. NSS Volunteers meet to the Gram Sevak Mr. Madhbhave and their staff and discussed about facilities provided though several govt. schemes. They asked questions on the population, medical facilities, education, electricity and cleanness.
2. A family wise survey conducted on 24th and 25th February 2015 at morning sessions by
the NSS volunteers. In this survey of 300 families were conducted by the volunteers. A questionarie was prepared for the survey in which questions about family info, agricultural, medical, educational information were mentioned.
3. Cleanness programs were organized on 26th February and 28th February 2015 at Nandani
Village and Maharashtra
4. A Free Health Checking Camp and medical Distribution Programme were organized by our NSS unit in the Rajur during this camp on 20/02/2014. The health checking camp was jointly organized with Prathmik Arogya Kendra, Aurad. During health checking camp health checking of about 87 peoples were done. Dr. Raut of Prathmik Arogya Kendra, Aurad was present for the camp along with their team.
5. Discussion with Mahila Bachat Gat conducted on 27/02/2015. There are total Seven
“Mahila Bachat Gat” in the Nandani. Our NSS volunteers asked many questions to these members and collect information about their activities. Each gat has 10 members with 100 Rs. Premium per month. Basically women saving their money for short period only. When there is need they withdrawing their money from the chairperson.
AWARENESS LECTURE SERIES
1. A lecture on “Role of Rural Communities in Road Safety Awareness” is held on 23/02/2015. Mr. Dattatray Mandalik SP, Solapur talked about road safety and role of rural communities in awareness of traffic rules. They told that peoples from rural area can help to awareness of any social message; it is need to motivate them. Activities under NSS can put importance of social awareness in front of peoples. At that time Director, staff members, Villagers and all NSS volunteers were present.
2. Awareness lecture on “Swacchatetun Samruddhikade” organized on 24/02/2015 at 6 pm
for the villagers and volunteers. Shri. Nagesh Khamitkar was key speaker. They talked about cleanliness. Every person has social responsibility to keep our working area neat and clean. They told various practices that are useful to keep our homes, offices clean. Our habits and practices are always effects on day to day life, there is need to analyze our approach towards healthy life. They assured that Indian youth’s makes awareness among all the communities for better life through cleanliness.
3. Awareness lecture on “Swacchatetun Bharat Ghadvuya” organized on 25/02/2015 for
villagers and volunteers. Mr. Kashinath Bhatghunaki, Chairman Dream Foundation was the key speaker. Speaker talked about importance of toilets and cleanliness in house. The environment can be protected by human beings only. It is need to make awareness among every factor of communities through social activities. it is need to adopt schemes promoted by govt. agencies. All NSS volunteers and villagers were present at that time.
4. Awareness lecture on “Maze Gaon Maze Swapna” organized on 26/02/2015. Dr.
Bhimashankar Birajdar, Professor of Walchand College, Solapur was the key speaker. They talked about importance of education in development of family and rural communities. They requested villagers to give education for their children’s. There are many opportunities in education. it is need to give proper guidance to the students of rural communities. They told to representative of Nandani village to arrange guidance sessions for their children’s so that these students can come forwards and take advantages of education.
5. Awareness lecture on “Green Life with Green Environment” was organized on 27/02/2015.
Mr. Ashok Suratgaonkar was speaker. He requested to villagers to save trees and maintain environment in balance. Average lifetime of human being goes decreases decade by decade. Peoples feels and lives in hybrid life, it is need to protect environment by planting and maintaining trees. He also told that, it is need to manage destroy solid and liquid wastes. All NSS Volunteers and villagers were present.
Games and Cultural Activities 1. NSS volunteers spent their time in the afternoon session of ever day for playing different games. They played cricket, chess, Antakshari and some funny games. 2. NSS Volunteers organized cultural activities on every night to give social awareness messages through the entertainment. They organized plays, musical skits; group Dance, poems on various social issues. They presented a plays on “Save Child Girls”, “Hunda Bali, “Corruption”, “Sanitation’ etc.
