    Purpose of a National Standard

National Standard will provide system consistency across allmarkets and regions. This will significantly increase the efficiency of the deployment and potentially

    reduce self inflicted site outages.

Modernized cell sites require advanced design and documentation to ensure thesite is properly plumbed and wired

Unlike traditional ground based sites, complex wiring and plumbingis required on the tower top

    This document provides:

    Conventions Processes

Tools required to properly configure a site

    Blank Fiber & Antenna Matrix

    Conventions Top down Approach.

Start with the Antenna and work backwards to BTS

Sample Site Configurations 1A X will be provided to Market RF Sample configurations matrixs can be quickly edited and saved as site specific

Sample configurations are close to a one size fits all approach

Market RF will be responsible for creating site specific matrixs Matrixs can be quickly edited by Market RF to make it site specific

Site Specific Matrixs include: Fiber Identification Matrix

o IDs every termination point from System Module to OVP & OVP to RRUo Fiber termination points are critical - comprehensive road map for FOPs & Vendors

    Coax/Jumper Identification Matrix

o IDs every termination point from bottom of tower to top of tower

o Port assignments are critical Post Modernization there will be multipletermination points

    Process

Start with the Antenna. Assign Antenna color, number, and port numbers

Map the Antenna to the RF module(s)

Map the RF Modules to the Top OVP

Confirm the OVP is wired correctly (1:1)

Map the System Modules to the bottom OVP

Map any ancillary items (LMU, microwave, etc)

Save each file as Site ID specific to compare with the close outpackage

Update the planning tools antenna inventory

Antenna port and fiber mapping file

RF Engineer/Site Engineer is required to fill out a Fiber & AntennaMatrix (see below) with all the necessary site specific mapping. A sample matrix is provided below

Once completed - Copy and Paste appropriate matrix's to drawingsor slip sheets

Rename the generic file and then save it with the site specific ID anddate for future reference

    Example: Portmap_AU01569A_0618.xls

Populate final configuration into the Antenna inventory module inAsset

This last step is critical: Leave the final build copy matrix's on site

    Completed Matrix

Once the Site Specific Antenna & Fiber Port Matrixs are

complete they will be used in combination with the National

    Color Code

Matrix and Color Code Standards should be stored inside BTS for

future reference by Field Technician + Vendors

o Used by NSN Vendors to correctly install modernized equipment

o Used by Tower Crews when dispatched to replace Antenna, RRU,

    TMA, etc

o Used by Field technician to understand system module port

    mapping

o Used by Field technicians to guide tower crew when working on

    tower

Coax/Jumper lines will be identified by

sector color and by number of bands

    around the coax/jumper
