Grants of between £10,000-£100,000 are available for projects seeking to grow and diversify the economy of the Romney Marsh.
The scheme is part of a £1m three‐year, economic growth fund for the Romney Marsh area funded by the Magnox Socio‐economic
programme, Kent County Council, Ashford Borough Council and
Shepway District Council. The scheme is available within designated areas of:
The Borough of Ashford (Parishes of: Aldington;
Appledore; Bilsington; Bonnington; Kenardington; Newenden; Orlestone; Ruckinge; Stone-Cum-Ebony; Warehorne; Wittersham)
The District of Shepway (Parishes of: Brenzett; Brookland;
Burmarsh; Dymchurch; Ivychurch; Lydd, Newchurch; New
Romney; Old Romney; Snargate; St Mary in the Marsh) Examples of eligible projects could include training provision, new business workspace, access to transport and environmental
improvements with an economic benefit. Applications can be submitted by small businesses, voluntary and community groups, charities, social enterprises and education
organisations. There is a two-stage application process. An initial
pre-application can be submitted on-line to assess eligibility.

The Woodland Trust has free tree packs available for planting on
publicly accessible sites. Schools can apply for up to 60 packs. They will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. All
applicants need to do is find a suitable site and supply the volunteer planters and tree protection.

European Funding Handbook
The Department for Communities and Local Gov-ernment has published a new handbook provid-
ing details of the European Structural and In-vestment Funds Growth programme 2014-2020.

Deprivation 2010 provide a relative measure of deprivation for small areas (Lower-layer Super
Output Areas) across England. The Indices are central to the evidence base for regeneration policy in England and help target limited re-sources appropriately.

Funding for minibuses in rural and iso-lated areas The Government will make £25 million available to support existing voluntary organisations that are already providing vital transport services for
people in rural communities with limited transport choices. Each bidder can apply for one vehicle. Smaller operators and those who help

Idox Funding Survey 2014 Key Findings
Report Published Idox have compiled and published the findings of the 2014 survey, along with associated recom-
mendations. Some of the key findings from the survey report include the following:
44.4% of the funding providers that com-
pleted the survey noted that they felt that funding applications had improved in quali-ty over the past year
34.9% of respondent funding providers
have been able to support 70-100% of sub-mitted funding applications.
86% of respondents fully allocated their
budget in 2014 for a particular funding pro-gramme

Creative Europe MEDIA Programme - Call for TV Programming The scheme supports television programming of European audiovisual works. Under this scheme,
projects should be intended primarily for televi-sion programming in the following categories: animation, creative documentary and drama.
Financial contributions are limited to:

Marsh Million Business Loan Scheme This scheme offers 0% interest loans of up to
£50,000 to help start-ups, small businesses and social enterprises in the Romney Marsh area who are seeking to develop new or expand existing products or services, where these will lead to

Innovate UK Innovation Vouchers Round 10 Applicants can claim an Innovation Voucher of up to £5,000 towards the cost of expert advice if
they are running a small enterprise or consider-ing setting one up.

Urban Community Energy Fund Incorporated community groups can apply for grants and loans for proposed renewable energy
projects in urban areas that have the support of the local community:

In 2014/15, each Kent County Council Member has £25,000 to allocate for community grants and/
or highway projects. Community Grants are available to properly-constituted organisations for projects that benefit local communities. All projects must contribute to KCC’s priorities and represent value for money. The grant is a one-off award. There is no funding for any future costs.
Who can apply? Voluntary and community groups; societies and charities; social enterprises; parish/town councils, public sector services etc. Applications from faith groups will be considered, but must demonstrate how the project will bring wider community benefit.

The 10Minute Fund This fund will open on 1 December and will sup-
port charities, not-for-profit companies, CICs, voluntary and community organisations in Eng-land to fund projects that include the develop-
ment of skills, building communities, improving health, and improving the environment.
There is a 10 minute application process for the
fund which has a maximum grant of £100 and must be spent within 3 months. The grant should be put towards marketing, equipment,
tutor/trainer costs, or training. Fund My Venture helps social organisations raise grant funding, through Grant Bid Writing and
Fundraising Strategy, Impact Evaluation Writing,
Social Organisation Formation and Project De-velopment services.

Help the Homeless provides grants of up to £5,000 to support small and medium-sized UK chari-ties that work to help homeless people rebuild their lives and re-enter society. Funding is target-ed at projects to find practical ways to help disadvantaged individuals return to the community
through training or residential facility provision, rather than merely providing short term shelter.
The scheme will principally fund capital costs, but may consider revenue costs if necessary to the

Together in Service Fund
Grants of £2,000 and £5,000 are available to charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community groups, and clubs and societies to
carry out new local multi-faith social action pro-jects which involve volunteering. Projects need to show that there has been local
research and consultation undertaken and in-volve faith-based groups especially multi-faith groups.

TDS Charitable Foundation Grants of up to £20,000 available to advance education about housing rights and obligations in
the UK. The Foundation’s goal is to improve standards in private rented housing manage-ment, and provides education and training re-sources to tenants, landlords and agents.

Kent County Council - Kent Sheds
Kent Sheds is an initiative to establish a network of “Sheds” projects across the county to support men and ex-service personnel (including wom-
en). The experience of Sheds nationally and in-ternationally is that they mainly engage men, and will offer men the opportunity to socialise,
find friendship, share and learn skills and sup-port each other. This scheme is administered by Groundwork
South on behalf of Kent Shed Partnership. Fund-ing for the scheme is provided by Kent County Council Public Health. Grants are available to

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation Grants of up to £30,000 are available to charita-
ble and not-for-profit organisations in the UK for projects which address issues in Rural Communi-ties and/or areas of Urban Deprivation. Within these two main headings, they are interested in
helping established projects which work in the fields of Community Support; Arts, Education & Heritage; Disability & Health Care. Capital and running costs will be considered.

AFTAID - Aid for the Aged in Distress Individuals, their families and neighbours, mem-bers of the voluntary sector or professionals
working with older people in distress in the UK

Written support from a Social Worker, Doctor or other professional is required. Grants are paid directly to the provider or supplier of goods. The

Ulverscroft Foundation
The Foundation provides funding to projects in the UK that benefit the visually impaired. It funds work to assist and improve the treatment
and education of the visually impaired. It also funds medical research and facilities for
the treatment or alleviation of visual impairment.
Funding is available to recognised organisations that help the visually impaired such as universi-ties, libraries, hospitals, clinics, schools, colleges and social welfare organisations.

Wolfson Foundation – Disability and Special Needs Grants Programme Grants of between £15,000 and £100,000 are available to special schools and colleges as well
as charities that work with people with particular health needs or disabilities. Nearly £10 million
has been awarded over the last five years, to
over 200 different organisations. Grants are made for new buildings, major refurbishment work, equipment or vehicles.

Bruce Wake Charitable Trust Charities can apply for funding to support leisure activities for the disabled. Applications which

War Memorials Grant Scheme English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation, in
association with Friends of War Memorials, are providing grants of up to £30,000 for the repair
and conservation of free-standing war memorials

Wolfson Foundation - Secondary Educa-tion Programme The Programme is dedicated to supporting the teaching of A-Levels and GCSEs at high-achieving state-funded schools and sixth form
colleges through the funding of capital projects. Grants of up to £50,000 (or £100,000 for large
sixth form colleges) are allocated to (a) new build, refurbishment or equipment projects relat-ed to the teaching of science and technology, or (b) information or communications technology
directly related to learning for projects involving libraries, languages, music or the arts.
In addition to the Capital Programme, the Foun-
dation has a particular interest in educational projects that help pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds access high quality education.

The Equitable Charitable Trust
Grants of up to £15,000 are available to support projects for children and young people under the age of 25 who are from disadvantaged back-
grounds or disabled. Small and medium sized not-for-profit organisa-tions to larger charities are eligible to apply.
Grants are available for project costs, capital ex-penditure, equipment and/or the salary costs of a post. There are three specific priorities:
Education projects or services that support
the learning and development of disabled children and young people
Formal education projects for disadvan-
taged children and young people in the UK that support delivery of the National Curric-
ulum (i.e. curriculum enrichment projects) or that deliver accredited vocational learn-ing that will increase employability
Education projects that will help increase
participation in, or improve the quality of, education for disadvantaged or disabled children and young people in developing
countries

The Directorate General for Justice has launched a new Call for Proposals to support transnational

The £1 million Fund launched by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Sutton Trust is looking to support the growth, increased effectiveness and measurement of impact of projects, led by not-for-profit organisations, aimed at improving children’s cognitive development through
actively engaging parents in their children’s learning.
It will be looking for projects primarily targeted at children from disadvantaged backgrounds aged between 2-6. Funding for the projects will range from £50,000-£200,000 over a funding period
of two to three years, with project delivery starting between April and September 2015. Example uses of the grant money might include employment of a new member of staff to provide
strategic or administrative support, covering the costs of setting up an additional delivery setting, or expanding provision at an existing setting. An expert evaluation team will be supporting the projects throughout in order to help them
develop evidence of impact and, more generally, in order to identify and implement the active
ingredients in successful parental engagement interventions.

Millmead Children's Cen-tre, Thanet
£493,344 has been awarded to enable Windmill Community Gardening to expand its project running a market garden and work experience centre for unemployed people, a carer and toddler group, learn to grow gardening sessions and cooking for healthy eating advice.
Headway in West Kent £153,254 to support adults with acquired brain injury and their families in Maid-stone, Tunbridge Wells ad Edenbridge. The funding will enable a buddying ser-vice to operate to support adults with brain injuries, provide weekly drop-in hubs, training for volunteers and ensure that users are supported to enter employment, volunteer, live in their own homes, and receive up to date information on support available.
The Kenward Trust £335,075 has been awarded to enable the successful Reset project pilot to con-tinue. This project with ex-offenders is led by volunteers who support the reset-tlement of those leaving a prison with the main aim of reducing reoffending rates. On the day of release clients are supported at the prison gate with a day of planned support followed by weekly meetings for a minimum of six months and follow up sessions at six and 12 month intervals.
