However, in fairness to our instructors, there is a point when courses must be cancelled due to insufficient registration. With that in mind, please do not wait until the last minute to sign up for a class. You could be the one participant needed to meet the required minimum.

Accident’s InsuranceThe City of Nacogdoches does not provide individual, team, or group accident insurance for participants in Parks and Recreation programs. We recommend that you check with your personal agent to assure coverage. Please report any injuries to your program supervisor.

Refund PolicyPersons needing to cancel out of a program may apply for a refund at the Recreation Center prior to the starting date of the program. Refunds will not be issued after the first class meeting unless a written statement from a physician is received indicating illness or disability.

Community Events and ActivitiesKid Fish 2013Kids 16 years and under can compete in a free fishing event sponsored by the Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation Department. The Lakeside Park Pond will be stocked with Rainbow Trout the day before the event so come out and take advantage of this unique opportunity to catch Rainbow Trout! Prizes will be awarded for largest trout, smallest trout, heaviest stringer and largest fish (any

Remembering Columbia: Community Collection DayTo mark the 10th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, the East Texas Research Center and the Nacogdoches Historic Sites Department are working together to preserve local memories surrounding the tragedy, and we need the community’s help. Community members are asked to share stories and pictures about any aspect of the tragedy at the Community Collection Day. Martial ArtsKarateInstruction is given on Traditional Okinawan and Japanese self-defense, which uses combinations of striking and kicking techniques. The training focuses on self confidence and character rather than competition. New students are accepted at the beginning of each month. L.O.T. Crew“Making Leaders Today for Tomorrow”

What is L.O.T. Crew? L.O.T. Crew (Leaders of Tomorrow) is a teen leadership program designed to motivate young people to become leaders in their community by empowering them with the skills they need and informing them of the opportunities their community provides.

Goals: Through a variety of activities, participants will gain skills designed to:• Develop communication and leadership skills• Develop group skills through team building, problem solving, conflict management, outdoor

adventure, and peer relationships• Develop community awareness and prideThere is no cost to students

Activities: Participants will be involved in an overnight retreat, community service, problem solving, vision planning, and days with various community leaders.

How to become involved: Any student interested must complete an application to be part of the L.O.T. Crew. All Nacogdoches County School Districts will be provided applications. Completed applications must be returned to the school counselor’s office, or the C.L. Simon Recreation Center. Applications will be evaluated by the selection committee. Interviews may be required. Thirty students who are currently in the seventh grade will be accepted to the program. Students will receive notification letters by the middle of May as to whether they were selected or not.

Parent Orientation: Our orientation meeting will provide the following information: curriculum, dates of meetings, transportation, importance of participation, and expectations of students. Parents are required to attend the orientation meeting.

Community Party PlanningGymnastics Birthday PartiesThe Gymnastics area can be rented for supervised birthday parties. The fees are as follows:Party for up to 12 children - $75.00 for two hours

Party for 13-24 children - $125.00 for two hoursParties are reserved in 2 hour blocks of time on Saturdays only and includes set-up and clean-up. Available times are as follows: 10:00 – 12:00 pm 12:30 – 2:30 pm 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Liberty Hall RentalLiberty Hall (El Camino Real Park) is available to reserve for parties, reunions, or corporate functions. The facility has a small kitchenette and large meeting area with a maximum capacity of 75 people. Some tables and chairs are provided. Contact: C.L. Park Pavilion RentalsPark pavilions are available to reserve for get-togethers. There are 15 different covered pavilions thought the City and Lake Nacogdoches. Contact: C.L. Lake NacogdochesLake Nacogdoches is a 2210 acre reservoir located 10 miles southwest of the City on FM 225. There are three pavilions, a swimming area, a fishing pier, and a boat ramp in the west side park. There are also tables, a swimming area, and another boat ramp on the east side of the lake.

Lanana Creek TrailThe Lanana Creek Trail system is over 6 miles of both paved and unpaved walking and/or biking paths. The trail is equipped with water fountains and emergency phones, and patrons are encouraged to enjoy the wooded scenery safely during the daytime.
