‘This is Tessa’s life’ is the first title displayed on screen and is shown dispersed amongstvarious shots that depict Tessa’s life. The titling introduces the central protagonist ‘Tessa’.The audience is now aware that she is the focal point of the trailer and the narrativerevolves around her. In the first shots of Tessa she is shown in some sort of action or movement. This is highlighted in the bright red of her dress in the first image whichconnotes passion and energy creating an image of an active protagonist before theaudience is able to fully identify with her. The colours red and pink allude to love which

lays the foundation of the genre before the idea love is introduced in the trailer.

comes to an end.

The Medium Close Up of Tessa emphasises her emotional state despite the

audience has not received any information about her. Her facial expression is

exaggerated due to the close proximity.

The key scene of the trailer is emphasised through the title ‘there’s a time limit’. The trailer suddenly becomes morose heightening Tessa’s impending death. This turning point in the trailer sdemarcated by the use of a segue into another track, as previously there was upbeat joyous

diegetic music however the diegetic sound then segues to acoustic guitar.

The use of the asynchronous voiceover ‘So you’ve chosen to give up the treatment’ isthe first voiceover used in the trailer and exposes Tessa’s medical condition to theviewer. It is then made clear that Tessa has a terminal illness and has decided to stopreceiving her treatment. The two subsequent shots highlight the consequences of thischoice and both the emotional and physical that difficulties that ensue as a result ofthis decision.

The second and final voiceover used in the trailer is Tessa’s voice as she says ‘This righthere, right now is definately a moment ’which is used as a sound bridge over both themain title ‘Now Is Good’ and an intimate moment with her love interest Adam.

The use of the of the voiceover is suggestive of the moments in Tessa’s life that shewants to enjoy before her inevitable death.
