Newsletter Junior School Issue 3 November 2017 029 2077 8936 Dear Parents When I look back over the last month, I realise how busy our pupils have been and I want to thank them all for being such enthusiastic participators in our school life. I have been so very pleased and proud of our pupils whether they are rehearsing for St David’s Hall, performing in their year group assembly, competing in the Primary Mathematics Challenge, Quiz Club, Book Club and Kids Lit Quiz, speaking to the Head at a lunch, enjoying Enterprise, raising money for charity, competing in sports events or just trying their very best in lessons. These last few weeks will be busy with festive treats but I want to thank all parents for supporting us in treating our assessments as an opportunity to learn new skills rather than a period of worry and concern for pupils. Wishing you all a very joyous and peaceful Christmas With Best Wishes Mrs R Thompson Staffing: I am pleased to welcome Mrs Meredyth Holland, who has joined us this half term to complete our dedicated Teaching Assistant team of Mrs Jo Cooney, Mrs Nicola Denman, Mrs Julie Rees, Mr Robert Dennis and Miss Jessica Pugh. I am sure you have heard them mentioned often at home. The Garden: For the last four years, Mrs Denman, Mrs Rees and myself have planned a rejuvenation of the space outside Mrs Taylor and Mrs Kloosterman’s room. We now have the infancy of a Learning Garden. We have plans for our Gardening Club to create a vegetable garden. It will be a summer reading room, a habitats study and will also showcase pupils’ Art and Tech work from our activity days: a Learning Garden for children, created by children. We will have an official opening ceremony in the Lent term. R8 St Fagan’s Round House: R8 went back in time on Monday 9 th to an ancient Celtic roundhouse. They met a lady who explained and showed them similarities and differences between modern life and that of an ancient Celt. The children held spear heads, pick axes made from antlers, flints and glass beads. The furniture and artefacts that were in the house were fascinating and they were intrigued to hear about the primitive bathroom arrangements! They asked amazingly searching questions, so much so, that we almost missed the time machine to return us back to school and 2017! What a fantastic visit! Mrs R Giannotti R9 Wastesavers:
