MRC CULTURE CONNECTS GOOD NEWS The Multicultural Resource Center is excited to announce that the MRC Speaking Up and Getting Support program proposals were accepted by both the 2015 NASPA Mental Health Conference and the 2015 ACPA Conference. Do You Want to be on a TV Talk Show!?

Join the MRC’s Diversity Talk Show

The Multicultural Resource Center is looking for students to

participate in the MRC Diversity Talk Show produced by

Binghamton Television BTV6. The shows will be filmed on

Wednesday (November 19th.) from 5-6 pm at the BTV6 station.

If you are interested in participating on one of the shows or have

suggestions for topics , please email Mengchen Huang, MRC

MRC News & Announcements

Global Fiesta Sign-Up for Student Organizations!

The Multicultural Resource Center would like to invite all cultural student organizations to Global Fiesta 2014. This is

a free event and open to the entire BU community. It is a great opportunity for student organizations to participate and

showcase their culture’s holidays and festivities. Student organizations can choose to put on a stage performance such

as singing and dancing, or do a presentation on a cultural holiday, or simply table with an interactive activity. The

MRC will award $100 to two of the best participating organizations. If your organization is interested in participating,

please email Mengchen Huang, MRC Program Coordinator at [email protected] by Sunday, November 23rd.

Global Fiesta Volunteers Needed!

The Multicultural Resource Center is looking for volunteers to help with the Global Fiesta anytime between 10 am to

7 pm on Thursday, December 4th. We will need help with the event set-up, food serving, ID scanning, survey

distributing, and clean-up. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Yang Xu, MRC Graduate Assistant at

CORAZON DE DAHLIA

When: Thursday November 6th at 7:30PM

Where: Fine Arts 258

Corazon de Dahlia is a free after school program that provides

books, computers, and games to children who may not have them

at home. Come join them on movie night and watch a film about

the fascinating lives and stories of taxi drivers in Lima, Peru!

BACK TO THE MOTHERLAND

When: Friday, November 7th

7:00 PM to 1:00 AM

Where: Old Union Hall

Join Uyai Nnua as they host their first annual banquet with a

theme that will bring us to various parts of the world. This dance

drama will have you on the edge of your seats. Food will be served

at this event. Cost for the event is $3 with a canned item and $4

without one. All canned items will be donated to a local shelter or

soup kitchen.

KOREAN BANQUET When: Friday, November 7th from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM

Where: Mandela Room

The annual Korean Banquet is here!

One of KASA's biggest events is finally back and

you don't want to miss out!

We will be providing delicious Korean food as well as amazing

performances to watch such like

"KASA Moda," "Sul-Poong" and many more!

MISS ASIA When: Saturday November 08th at 7:30 PM

Where: Mandela Room

Miss Asia is a beauty pageant where ladies from different Asian countries

are brought together to showcase Asian heritage, culture, and beauty.

Everyone is welcome to our biggest event of the Fall semester to

discover the diverse cultures of Asia and support the contestants.

Tickets will be $8 in advanced and $10 at the door. Catered Food

from Phuong Nam will be served!

MEGA CHALLAH BAKE When: Thursday November 13th at 7:00 PM

Where: Mandela Room

Learn how to mix, knead, shape and bake the world's most

delicious bread. Make two - one for you and one to share the

spirit and give to someone in need or a friend.

For BU Students: $3 with advance RSVP or $5 at the door

GUESS WHO !? Join RA Dave and Danielle and the Multicultural Resource

The National Acrobats of The People’s Republic of China

2014 was founded in 1951 and has been one of the most

acclaimed acrobatic troupes in China.

President of Empire Interpreting Service, LLCTM to learn more about the skills and training

necessary to be successful in the field. LLC™ is a business that provides Sign and Spoken

Language Interpretations services both on site and telephonic. In addition, her company

provides translation services in virtually any language, both domestically and internationally.

Korea has its own Korean Thanksgiving called Chuseok and

KONECT would like to let other students take hands on making

rice cakes together to learn more about Korean Thanksgiving.

ASIA NIGHT When: Saturday, November 22 at 6:30PM

Where: Ousterhout Concert Theater

Asian Student Union presents their BIGGEST cultural performance of the

year: ASIAN NIGHT 2014!

Guest Stars: JR AQUINO, RYAN MITCHELL GREY, SORAH YANG

along with Binghamton's very own Asian subgroups and other performers.

GLOBAL SERVICE FAIR

When: Wednesday, November 19th 12-3 PM

Network with other students, faculty and staff to

address youth empowerment, food security, housing,

sustainability, peace education, and health care and other

international issues.
