Hammitt School is starting a recycling program. Students were hired to do this as a vocational education job. They go to classroom to classroom to pick up recycling materi-als such as paper, plastic and aluminum. We start first in the Primary Wing rooms and then we go to connections. Finally we go to Upper Wing rooms. After we go room to room, we go to the Pop Room to sort the recycle. After we’re done recycling we return the containers to their rooms. The containers are where the materials are in. The containers are numbers on them so we know what room they came from. We do re-cycling every Thursday.

How many turkeys can you find

in this newsletter? Answer will

be in December’s newsletter.

The students in PW129 are learning all about turkeys. In math, some students are learning number concepts doing double digit subtract.

Students are really excited for the thanksgiving feast that is happening on the 22nd at 11:30. They hope to see all their families there.

In Challenges room 102 we have been working on science experiments with our ISU student leading the way. Friction: using marbles rolling on different surfaces. Density: using oil, water and honey. Pulse & exercise

We have also been keeping a close eye on the world series and keeping our bracket’s updated.

In connections 141 we learned about the life cycles

of pumpkins and apples. We measured, weighed

and cut them open to learn more about what’s inside. Our

unit concluded with a trip to Radar Pumpkin Farm and of

course pumpkin doughnuts. In social skills, we have now

learned about tools we can use to help us when we feel

frustrated and upset, thanks to Amy! We are looking

forward to hat day on the 11th to help raise money

for St. Jude by wearing hats we made ourselves.

Sunday, November 21st. Be sure to look for Hammitt’s tie-dye tree!

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling John Tiffany & Jock Thorne A new play by Jack Thorne

This book takes place 19 years after the Deathly Hallows. This book is about one of Harry’s sons named Albus. While on his way to Hogwarts, Albus meets Draco Malfoy’s son, Scorpius, who rumors say he is actually Voldemort’s son. Albus and Scorpius become friends and are both sorted into Slytherin house. A couple years later Albus and Scorpius decide to use a time turner to go back in time to save Cedrick Digory. This action causes time to change making it so Ron and Hermonie aren’t married and Albus is now in Gryffindor. When they try to change time again things get worse. Harry is now dead Voldemort rules and Cedrick is now a death eater. Scorpius then fixes the timeline but when they try to destroy the time turner Voldemort’s actual child brings them into the past. TO FIND OUT HOW iT ENDS, READ THE BOOK!!!

In PE we are learning to work as a team. We had been playing soccer, but in the middle of October we started basketball.

NCAA Basketball starts on the 11th. I suggest watching

an old movie called Hoosiers. It’s one of the best basket-ball movies in the world. The top game for basketball is NBA 2K17 if you want to play the demo or try out the game.

The Arizona Cardinals in MLB are doing horrible this year and now they are out of the playoffs. The Chicago Cubs are hitting a world record. They are now in the world series. Great job Cubbies! They have not done this since 74 years. Many fans would say the best on the Cubs is Kris Bryant.

The four classrooms in the Upper Wing have decided to rotate for Unit time. In UW220, the students are learning about the human body systems. As an intro, they learn about cells, tissues, and organs. To finish, they made edible animal cell models.

Vision Screenings. Hammitt school’s vision screenings will take place in early November. These screening are to identify children who may have difficulty with vision. Which can impact learning. Any child who does not pas the initial screening will be rescreened about 2 weeks later. If the child is unable to pass the vision screening on the second attempt, a referral letter will be mailed to the parent/

guardian advising follow up care. The screenings are not diagnostic. All children at Hammitt School are screened every year. If your child wears glasses please send the glasses to school daily.
