HELLO DIVISION 64!

I hope you are all doing well – and for the seniors, surviving with college apps! Even though the weather is certainly getting colder, remember to keep spreading the warmth and love through your

service and good-will towards others —especially (but not limited to) the upcoming holiday season! October was a very busy month – and the approaching holiday season is no different. There are so many ways to help out

in the community this season – serving at the food bank, bell ringing, volunteering at holiday themed fun runs, serving at the local retirement and serving at the soup kitchen are just a few examples of ways you can give back to the community in this wonderful season of giving. Let me know if you are ever in need of upcoming service projects! Keep me updated with your projects – I would love to come volunteer at your projects – and let me know if I can be of any service!

As I head into the last stretch of my term as Lieutenant Governor, I hope I have been able to serve you guys to the best of my ability. Communication is an ESSENTIAL part to our success as an organization, and I wanted to recognize the season of THANKSGIVING and say THANK YOU. Thank you to all of your hard work and dedication to making our communities better, an hour of service at a time. Thank you for your support and love for service. Thank you officers, for helping meetings run smoothly and helping to find so many wonderful service projects that are constantly in need. Thank you Kiwanians, for continually providing support and care. Thank you faculty advisors for all that you do for the clubs, and for the support that you provide for your Key Clubbers. Thank you to the Pacific Northwest District of Key Club International for allowing me to serve alongside a wonderful group of spirited and dedicated people with a profound love for service. I am thankful for Key Club and for the tremendous impact it has had on my life and my dreams.

This month especially, I challenge each and every one of you to express your thanks for the amazing support of the

money in, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

On Halloween, many Key Clubbers all over the world went out to collect donations for UNICEF. All proceeds raised from Trick-or-Treat for Unicef will go towards the Eliminate Project! Thank you to all those who participated in this project! Your

efforts will help change the lives of many mothers and children.

UNICEF works with the United Nations to help over 150 developing countries to overcome the obstacles that poverty,

violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. Through community

service, UNICEF is able to provide healthcare, sanitary water, and education

for these children.  

PREFERRED CHARITIES

1 in 9 babies in America are born mature. The United States has one of the highest

rates for premature babies for more developed countries. The March of Dimes funds lifesaving research and

programs and works to end premature birth, birth defects and infant

mortality. Every baby deserves a healthy life.

Children’s Miracle Network seeks to battle every type of childhood illness and injury. The money

fundraised for the program goes towards research and training, purchasing equipment

and paying uncompensated care, in its mission to save as many children’s lives as possible.

“In the midst of serene nature and fluctuating weather conditions lies the great Pacific Northwest District (PNW). The Pacific Northwest is geographically the largest district of Key Club International. The district spans from Western Canada to Northern California: with Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and the pan-handle of Idaho in between.” “The Pacific Northwest encompasses nearly 1.8 million square miles and includes over 330 clubs that operate under 44 divisions. Through rain or shine, snow or hail, Key Clubbers in the Pacific Northwest dedicate countless hours to their communities and internationally, and are always Proud 'N‘ Willing to serve!” “The mascot of the Pacific Northwest District is the “Mighty Moose,” also commonly called “Mortimer the Moose.” Known for our spirit yet incredible dedication to the service that we do, the PNW District continues to be a leader in the Key Club world, and it is all thanks to our members and excellent leadership throughout the district. It would not be far from the truth to say that yes, we’re one of the best, with over 13,000 members proudly shouting out in accord when they hear: “Hey PNW! How do you feel?”” Division 64 includes Tigard High School, Wilsonville High School, Tualatin High School, Lakeridge High School, Sherwood High School, West Linn High School, and Lake Oswego High School. We are one of the smallest and newest divisions in the District, but we are working towards becoming a bigger and stronger division over the next year! Our divisional mascot has been recently changed to the “DINOSAURS,” while our divisional colors are blue and silver. We are happy to serve and blessed to be able to experience how rewarding being an active member of Key Club can be. Yay Key Club!!

Pacific Northwest gather to celebrate a year’s worth of service. The

convention is intended to recognize those who have gone above and

beyond to serve their homes, communities, and schools.

SO WHAT IS DCON?

WHAT IS THE THEME? This year’s DCON theme is “Service to

Infinity and Beyond,” emphasizing how Key Clubbers should go the extra mile

to serve their homes, schools, and communities.

WHAT DO YOU DO? -  Meet Key Clubbers from all over the PNW -  Elect the next District Executive Board -  Retire and Install the old/new District Board -  Attend the Service Fair to learn about

various projects that have been successful throughout the PNW and globally

-  Show your Key Club spirit -  Hear inspirational speakers -  Watch entertainment and talent shows -  Attend forums to better your clubs -  Dance and have fun at the Governor’s Ball

DO I HAVE TO GO? You are not required to attend. However, it is strongly recommended for incoming officers (and any interested members) to attend because DCON is the primary way that officers will receive proper officer training to prepare for the following year.

Also, I would simply recommend DCON because it is so much fun and a worthwhile experience! I have yet to meet a Key Clubber who does not have fun at DCON and/or regrets going.

Additionally, your Kiwanis clubs are willing to help fund any Key Clubber who wants to go to DCON, and will do so to the best of their ability.

THE KEY CLUB CHEER Leader: Hey, Key Clubbers! How do you feel?!?! Key Clubber(s): I (we) feel good! Oh! I feel so good! UH! (two fists, elbows tucked, downward arm thrust) Double it up, UH!UH! (two fists, elbows tucked, downward arm thrust) x2 Triple it up, UH! UH! UH! (two fists, elbows tucked, downward arm thrust) x3 One long UH! UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (right arm extended and outward, up and down, wave-like motion.) Rapper style, UH, UH, UH, UH, UH (fingers extended, elbows bent and un-tucked, arms form an “A” shaped wedge, sharply chop air, alternating between right and left arms.) *Note: At the end of the cheer, throw up your D64 hand sign! And scream “64” loudly to show your divisional spirit.
