November and December in EJB
Mediterranean Neighbourhood
November and December were all about Med Nights, the first neighbourhood workshop for
this region. Last preparations, emails, time spent with family. Some JBers were quite busy
with exams, but all in all we were excited for the upcoming event. More details in the article
below! In the meantime there was a small competition going on between the Med countries:
who gets the most like on our neighbourhood facebook page. The deadline was 31st Decem-
ber and the winner was Algeria. But honestly saying, everyone did a great job, because in the
end we reached more than 600 likes and the EJB Team page might be in danger. Big thanks
to the Medhood for making this months exciting and full of surprises!
Wild West Neighbourhood
We have been the most active Neighbourhood in electing new NJRs for the years 2013 - 15. A huge
welcome to all of them and they are all apart of our amazing whatsapp group. If you are a Wild
West NJR email [email protected] to join the whatsapp group. Applications to be a Wild
West Facilitator have closed and congratulations to Louis (NL) & Joao (POR) who will be working
alongside Ryan at WWW’14. Applications are still open for delegations till December 31st, so
make sure that you get your delegation of 6 participants signed up before all the spots go into
Round 2! International participants can sign up here: http://www.cisv.nl/en/register. Follow all in-
structions and select WWW 2014 - international participants. There are limited places so sign up
ASAP! (Payment required upon sign up).
Central Eastern Neighbourhood
It’s still a lot of time until Go East, but every day we’re more and more excited.
Content staff is working hard to make this Go East the best ever, and we really think
they will be very successful. Stay tuned for Infopack 2, with a lot of cool information,
and finally an introduction of our lovely home staff. Also, you know that applica-
tions deadline is January 15th, so apply as soon as possible, or you might be late.
You already know the drill: if you’re from CEE coutries, talk to your NJR...if not, go
here: http://bit.ly/14bfPXI
Not to forget: we want to thank to all NJRs who finished their term in November,
and also welcome all new NJRs, we can’t wait to get to know you better.
Northern Neighbourhood
We organized the Baltic workshop in December that was quite a huge success.
We are hoping to continue with this tradition and have another Baltic hosted
next year. For now our focus is the NICE weekend only. Group of staff has been
formed in december and will be announced soon. We are still looking for partic-
ipants for this fabulous event. Some of the NJR have changed so we are chang-
ing all mailing lists and other channels to get the fresh young blood as involved as
possible. Otherwise December is of course the time to be spend with family and
friends and get some rest so that is what we did as well. We will be having our
next skype meeting in January in fresh and beautiful new year 2014. We hope it
will be juicy and successful for all!

Med Nights!
I arrived as last to the campsite in Koprivnica, Croatia. A bit nervous on what to expect there, if everyone got here and how will the first mediterranean neighbourhood
workshop go, I entered the activity room. And then I saw some old friends faces and some new smiling. It reassured me that the next few days full with activities and
bonding will turn out great. I put aside different expectations floating in my head and let it flow. We explored different points where diversity meets human rights, starting
with gender stereotypes in our languages and finishing on a great session with a guest speaker that showed us what are the best manners when you interact with people
with different types of disability. In the meantime we worked on what JB means to us personally and where do we want to see each other, why do we have neighbour-
hoods and trying to find out Med identity. We also had time to start working on projects and have a skills&knowledge market. All that in a diverse environment, with 41
participants from 11 countries in atmosphere of bonding, laughs and jokes around. Last night also didn’t disappoint me: Pirates of Mediterranean are ready to explore
new oceans and grow stronger as a neighbourhood! Big thanks, gracias, hvala and dziękuję goes to home staff, content staff, IJRs and especially the participants for mak-
ing this workshop so unique. We know now that there is another valuable workshop to attend during the year with its special flavour. See you at Med Nights in 2014!

All the participants from Iberico!
Iberico
‘’Ibérico was my first and, I'm sure, not last CISV experience like that. I
didn't really know what to expect so I decided to completely get rid of any
expectations. It was the best idea. I trusted the combination of the Spanish
and Portuguese spirit and it was worth it. Each day was different. Through
those 5 days, I've learned many new things about CISV itself and just about
myself. I've met many new CISV people that literally became my good friends
and I can say it again, CISV didn't disappoint me. Well, it never does.’’
- Iza Jablonowska (Poland), at Ibérico 2013 in Barcelona
NaJuWo
It was early December and in Hamburg that only meant one thing, it was time for
NaJuWo! But in Hamburg the days were cold and there was storm brewing,
planes were grounded, trains were delayed and German efficiency was nowhere to
be seen. Even with this disruption it didn’t stop the determined NaJuWo partici-
pants from arriving, though with a few people a little behind schedule, that’s 84
participants from 19 chapters from 9 countries!
The anticlimactic storm (a bit of wind and rain) had passed, everyone had arrived
and NaJuWo was in full swing with some brilliant activities based on the theme of
Heimat (there is no English translation, but it means home, but not just birthplace.
The word Heimat contains more dimensions; It is also about identity, self-
perception and acceptance; society, language and culture. So a bit like ‘home is
where the heart is’). We got to know each other through our own personal
Heimats, and also touched upon the topic of asylum and if your Heimat can
change, through discussions and an activity based in a fantasy world, where you
collide with new cultures and overcome challenges that change your environment
and culture, we questioned if it can also change your Heimat. We also had an in-
troduction and a first look at some of the projects going on in CISV for next year’s
theme, as well as many other great activities.
There was a fairy tale ending to the weekend, well… there was a fairy tale themed
party, but that’s close enough. This was a great way to end and amazing NaJuWo
that included; great sessions, great fun and great food with a lot of tzatziki and 84
wonderful participants. Thank you to the staff and everyone involved and hopeful-
ly we will see as many people as possible at the always brilliant NaJuWo in 2014.
