First up, Thanksgiving.

The Holidays Are Now Upon Us...

It’s that time of year, where everyone seems to get a little more on edge. Tensions flare, road rage becomes more

obvious and the shopping word seems to be more used than any other time of year. It’s the Holidays.

First up, Thanksgiving. I’m not really sure why we get so crazy in November and December. The thought of enjoying a Thanksgiving dinner with our families and buying Christmas presents has really gotten out of control. It’s supposed to be a time of Thanks and an oppor-tunity to visit with family and reflect on what’s happened over the last 10 months.

To me, it seems like we are in a hurry to get somewhere. This year, I think it’s time to slow down and enjoy the holiday season.

1. Be thankful for what you have, friends, family, job, etc. I’m thankful for my family, my friends and my customers. I recommend that everyday, you should say one thing that you are thankful for. Yeah, I swiped that from status updates on Facebook.

2. Tell your family, friends and co-workers thank you. Even though it may force you to swallow your pride, it’s a good

way to get things started in the right direction.

3. Slow down! I’m just as guilty of this as everyone else is. My life has become too over-whelming between family, work, FFA, hunting, shopping and the daily grind. I’m looking forward to a nice Thanksgiving with our families and prepar-ing for Christmas in less than a month.

3. Plan ahead! It’s the easiest thing to do but few do it. My wife and I write out a Christmas list for the members of our fam-ily. We choose something they’d like then when it’s time to shop, we go right down the list. It’s easy and effective. Also, I’d rec-ommend shopping earlier than the last week before Christmas. Procrastinating leads to chaos.

4. When you are out on the highway, slow down and take your time. There have been too many automobile and motor-cycle accidents this year. We need to slow down, practice safe driving and be a cautious drivers. I’d like to thank the See Us - Save Us committee for working hard to encourage us to be better drivers.

Ok, that’s enough. I wish you all a great Thanksgiving, enjoy the turkey and time with your families. Slow down this holiday season and think about what it truly means to be thankful.
