Shri K.C. Jain, Principal Chief Commissioner, Income Tax (Rajasthan) inaugurated Income Tax Office Building at Udaipur, Rajasthan on 24.10.2016 in presence of Income Tax and CPWD officers. The Building has been constructed by Northern Zone-III, CPWD, Jaipur.

Mrs Usha Batra, Special Director General (WR), CPWD, Mumbai inaugurated 62 kWp solar rooftop power plant installed on Pratishtha Bhawan, Mumbai on 26.10.2016 in presence of Senior Officers of CPWD. The plant has been installed by M/s Cleanmax and the generation has started from 02.10.2016.

Shri Abhai Sinha, Director General, CPWD visited Lucknow on 11.10.2016. During visit, DG, CPWD inaugurated the Nakshatra Vaatika, Aakanksha Parisar, Lucknow developed by Northern Zone-II, CPWD and planted a tree in Nakshatra Vaatika Campus.

Shri Abhai Sinha, Director General, CPWD visited Kochi on 17.10.16 and reviewed the works and other activities being carried out by CPWD at Kochi.

Governor of Puducherry laid foundation stone for construction of Girls Hostel (G+3) Storied Block for 228 Persons Capacity for Pondicherry University at Puducherry on 14.10.2016 in presence of University Authorities and CPWD Officers. Soni, Chief Engineer, (SZ) III, CPWD, Bengaluru on 27.10.2016.

constructed by Southern Zone-III, CPWD, Bangalore.

Shri Suresh Kumar, Assistant Director, SIB, Mysore laid foundation stone for Construction of Office building and residential quarters for SIB at Mandya on 17.10.2016 in presence of SIB and CPWD Officers. The Building shall be constructed by Southern Zone-III, CPWD, Bangalore.

Bhumi Pujan was held for construction of Administrative Block for Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur by Prof. R.L. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of HPTU, Hamirpur in presence of Sh. K.C. Singh, Chief Engineer (NZ-I) & other officers of CPWD on 22.10.2016. The building shall be constructed by Northern Zone-I, CPWD, Chandigarh.

Shri K Durga Prasad, Director General, CRPF laid foundation stone for construction of residential military building at GC, CRPF, Amethi on 26.10.2016 in presence of CRPF and CPWD Officers. The building shall been constructed by Northern Zone-II CPWD Lucknow.

Chaudhary Birender Singh, Honble Minister of Steel, Sh. Ram Bilas Sharma, Honble Minister of Education, Govt. of Haryana and CPWD officers on 21.10.2016. The Kendriya Vidyalaya shall be constructed by Northern Zone-I, CPWD, Chandigarh.

Sunil Kumar, Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture, Kerala inaugurated Under Graduate Hostel for Kerala Agricultural University at Tavanur, Malappuram, Kerala on 22.10.2016 in presence of University Authorities and CPWD Officers. The building has been constructed by Southern Zone-V, CPWD, Trivandrum.

Ms. Aruna M Bhahuguna, IPS, Director, SVP, National Police Academy, Hyderabad,

inaugurated the Flag Mast of 30.50m height near MP Bhavan in site-B of SVP National

Police Academy, Hyderabad on 24. 9.2016 in presence of Academy and CPWD Officers. This

work has been executed by Southern Zone-II, CPWD Hyderabad.

Agriculture minister of Andhara Pradesh inspected the works of Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, Guntur, Andhara Pradesh, being executed by Southern Zone-VI, CPWD Vijayawada on 13.10.2016 and conducted review meeting with University and CPWD Officers.

ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Present Work Portfolio

Total about 2100 construction works amounting to

25000 crores and maintenance works amounting to

750 crores are in progress.

New sanctions for construction works amounting to

7400 crores and for maintenance works amounting to

800 crores received. The works are being awarded.

CPWD entrusted with the work of redevelopment of

Kasturba Nagar, Thyagraj Nagar, Srinivaspuri and

Mohammadpur, New Delhi costing Rs. 7793 crores by

Ministry of Urban Development.

About 2300 construction works & 500 maintenance

works amounting to 12000 crores & 140 crores respec-

tively completed during 2016-17 upto 31.10.2016.

PEs for more than 4250 works amounting to 26000

crores submitted to the clients, for which sanctions are

awaited.

CE, EZ-IV, CPWD Ranchi organized a Interactive Session on Reinforcement Detailing based on IS:13920-2016 which was attended by the field Engineers and working agencies of Jharkhand. The purpose of the interactive session was to delib-erate on findings/observations made by Senior Officers during their various site inspections. There were some common errors getting repeated in most of sites and this warranted a common session with all the engineers working in the Zone at various sites to mitigate the same. In addition, the common issues like water cement ratio and its effect on reduction in strength, design mix, problems in shuttering and rusting of reinforcement due to improper storage etc were also discussed.

Mrs Usha Batra, SDG (WR) presented a paper on Role of Energy Efficiency in Smart & Sustainable Development and Dr K. M. Soni, Chief Engineer on Smart Habitat A new Concept during a seminar held by Indian Buildings Congress on 6-7 October 2016 in New Delhi. During the valedictory function, Mrs Usha Batra received a medal for best paper presentation in midterm session held at Raipur in 2015 for Rental Housing and Dr K M Soni for the best paper presentation on Smart Cities for India held at annual convention at New Delhi in 2015 by Indian Buildings Congress.

During the week, a Seminar was organized in Nirman Bhawan on 2.11.2016, which was chaired by Sh. K. V. Chowdary, Central Vigilance Commissioner as the Chief Guest. The Seminar was quite participative.
