Turn Your
Old Fridge
into Cash
The Kansas
City Board of Public Utilities
(BPU) offers a rebate program
that encourages residential cus-
tomers to replace their older, less
efficient refrigerators with an En-
ergy Star® qualified appliance
that uses less electricity. Cus-
tomers wanting to participate in
the program must properly dis-
pose of their old refrigerator be-
fore receiving a $250.00 rebate
check.
Refrigerators operate 24 hours a
day, using more electricity annu-
ally than any other appliance in
the home. If made before 2001,
investing in a newer model can
save energy immediately and cut
customer's utility costs signifi-
cantly over time. BPU's new re-
bate program is intended to re-
duce energy consumption and
further protect the environment.
To receive a BPU Refrigerator
Replacement Rebate, custom-
ers should do the following:
Remove and replace older
refrigerators with a new Ener-
gy-Star® qualified refrigera-
tor from a retailer. Make sure
the appliance has the Energy-
Star® label when making the
purchase.
Request and submit the BPU
Rebate Application by calling
913.573.9997.
Include a copy of dated sales
receipt /invoice showing man-
ufacturer, model number, and
purchase price of the new ap-
pliance.
Include copy of the signed
document of disposal of pre-
viously-owned refrigerator.
Once completed, customers
will receive a mailed check
from BPU within six to eight
weeks.
This Refrigerator Replacement
Rebate program is for BPU resi-
dential customers living in the
BPU service area, and applies to
residential or commercial refrig-
erators with new Energy Star®
certifications.
Customer must have an active
electric account that is in good-
standing.
The rebate is valid for purchases
made between January 1, 2015
and December 31, 2015, with
purchase receipt, removal docu-
ment, and application post-
marked no later than December
31, 2015.
One rebate per household/
address per customer, and the
$250.00 rebate amount may not
exceed the purchase price of the
refrigerator.
During this Thanksgiving Season , We would like to take the time to say
“Thank you” for all of the hard work that you put in to making Kansas
City, Kansas a Great place. Without all of your efforts and support this
would be impossible! Keep up the Good work.

Have a wonderful Holiday
KCKPD Community Policing Toy Drive
It is that time of year again, to think about Families at the Holi-
days. Every year Community Policing has raised money in various ways to adopt families for Christmas. On of these ways is by monetary donations from various com-munity partners, like you. No Cash, Checks only need to be written to KCKPD COPPS Unity and have TOY DRIVE in the memo section. We will be taking names of families who are not getting help elsewhere, inter-viewing them and then adopting them for shopping gifts and a Holiday party.
Here is where you come in, your work shift, division, group or organization can pick to adopt a family, and partner with us in this program. Typically $100 will be used per child. So you can pick a size family you would like to adopt, contact us with that information and we will partner with you to make it happen.
At the end of this process the children will attend a par-ty where they will visit with Santa Claus, Elves and Of-ficers, and receive their new, wrapped gifts to take home for Christmas morning.
Also if you know of any families in the KCK community who will go without Christmas this year feel free to send their information to use for consideration in our program, before October 31st.
Qualifiers would include but not limited too;
Unable to provide Christmas on their own.
Not receiving services from another group or agen-cy for Christmas.
The families cannot nominate themselves.
Persons interested can contact Officer Parker [email protected] or Lightfoot [email protected]
