November 2013 Dear Friends, Welcome to the November edition of LCEF on the Move. We are nearing the end of another calendar year and approaching the holiday season. Later this month, our nation will once again celebrate a national day of Thanksgiving. As a nation and as individuals we have much to be thankful for. We are thankful, first and foremost, for our gracious and loving God who provided His Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for sin and now as the only hope for reconciliation between God and man. We are thankful to live in a country such as the United States which, in spite of its many flaws, continues to be the greatest nation on the planet. We are thankful for our congregations and our Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod as we reach out with the Good News of Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the investors of Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) who partner together to provide funds that allow congregations and schools to expand facilities for ministry. I am also thankful for the congregations that have completed or are nearing completion of building projects this past year. The workers have been spared from injury and these facilities are now ready to assist congregations in ministry. I am certain that each of you has things to be thankful for as well and I encourage you to keep these as part of your daily prayers. For the past two months, we have provided a great deal of information about the new Y.I Club that is geared specifically to children and youth under the age of 18. The response to this new offering has been very positive and I direct your attention to page three of this newsletter and ask you to prayerfully share news about this effort in your congregation and among your family members. Please keep all who will be attending the annual LCEF Fall Leadership Conference later this month in your prayers. It is the largest gathering of LCMS leaders outside the triennial convention and it provides a time for our leaders to share with and encourage each other as we all carry out our tasks of serving our LORD and supporting HIS church. Thank you for your past, present, and future support of the ministry of Lutheran Church Extension Fund. In HIS Service, Dennis Klussman LCEF Vice President

Featured Loan: King of Kings Lutheran Church – Kansas City, MO

September 15 marked a special date in the history of King of Kings Lutheran Church in north Kansas City, Missouri, as members gathered to rededicate their sanctuary after several months of extensive renovation. The renovation, financed by member gifts and an LCEF loan, included new chancel furnishings, pews, carpeting, lighting, and other structural improvements. Reconfiguration of the nave resulted in some additional seating and a better flow of entrance to and exit from the sanctuary. During the time of renovation, worship services were held in the church fellowship hall which was constructed with the help of an LCEF loan in 2000-01. The next phase of improvement at King of Kings will include construction of an addition that will serve as a welcome center and will increase the size of the narthex and improve traffic flow in that area. LCEF has already approved financing of this project that is scheduled to begin as soon as possible. LCEF is privileged to partner with congregations such as King of Kings as they strive to welcome the community into their midst.
