Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
November 14, 2019
Commander Fred Rogers called the meeting, held at the Frisco Senior Center, to order
at 1830. The opening ceremony included a prayer and reciting the pledge of allegiance.
Officers Roll Call – See the attached "PEC Attendance Roster": In attendance
were Ted Ruybal, Charles Daniels and Rick Redden.
Commander Rogers announced that a quorum was achieved.

ACTION ITEM Develop a process to determine a location
where ALL Post 178 photos and videos can be stored and
accessed as necessary.
Website – a donation tab has been added to the website.
Larry Wilhelm and Eric Bonar provided the development
of the tab.
Communications Program
ACTION ITEM Develop a process to add certain Post 178
Officers, as determined by the Executive Committee, to
the existing [email protected] Google “GSuite” account.
Plan to include group hands on training for each officer
that will be added to the “GSuite”. The goal is to have
selected Officers on one email account for the purpose of
standardizing user accounts. If an Officer leaves his/her
position the incoming Officer will continue to use the
existing account with a seamless transition.

Marshall motioned to approve the August Financial Report, subject to
Audit. The motion was seconded by Larry Wilhelm and approved.

Altman motioned to recognize Jonathan Martindale, UHaul Manager, at the
December 12, 2019 Executive Meeting for donating trucks to distribute and

collect wreaths for the past three years. The motion was seconded by
Larry Wilhelm and approved.

Annual Giving.
New Business
Larry Marshall motioned to approve Commander Rogers request to appoint Rick Redden to Get Out the Vote Chairman, replacing Larry Marshall. Rob Altman seconded the motion and it was approved.
State Oratorical Update – Fred Rogers – The 2020 State contest will be conducted at the Collin Community College. More information will be presented later.
Update on the future use of the Frisco Senior Center for meetings. Fred Rogers is in constant discussion with the Senior Center and will provide information as it becomes available.
Report on 4th District Convention – Fred Rogers reported that Post 178 received a National banner award for Post Excellence. Terry Meyering submitted a resolution to run for 4th district Finance Officer in 2020.
Post 178 will be taking clothing and monetary donations for the Clyde Cosper Veterans Home at the November 21, 2019 membership meeting.
Post 178 received recognition from the Frisco ISD at the November 11, 2019 awards presentation for continued support and dedication to the students and staff of FISD.
The December Membership meeting is cancelled.
The agenda for our November 21, 2019 membership meeting will
be:

City Council meeting.
November 21, 2019 is the next membership meeting at the Frisco Senior
Center beginning at 1745 with a social followed by door prize drawings at
1825.
November 28, 2019 Happy Thanksgiving.
December 7, 2019 is Pearl Harbor Day.
December 12, 2019 is the next Post Executive Committee meeting at the
Frisco Senior Center beginning at 1830.
December 13, 2019 is wreath distribution day at DFW National Cemetery.

December 13, 2019 is FVAC Veteran Social, AC Hotel, Frisco. Details to

December 14, 2019 is Wreaths Across America at DFW National

November 14, 2019 Post 178 Membership Report Fred Rogers / for Thor Anderson, 1st Vice CDR Our 2020 assigned membership goal is 526 and we have renewed 400 members for 76% of goal. We are on track to achieve 100% of goal. Notable achievements:
We surpassed our 75% interim goal for November 11, 2019
We are 123 members ahead of this same date in 2018
We have 15 new members
Our current retention rate is 65% and continues to be a challenge
Current roster total is 607 members The Membership Committee has two Membership Drives scheduled for December Since our last report at the October 17, 2019 membership meeting we have added 14 new members FRR/for Thor Anderson

Officer contributions for the month of October 2019
1. Confirmed price per person with Kevin Healy regardless of attendance to Annual Dinner at Crest Infiniti.
2. Submitted press release mentioning the 2019 LEGION act and Post involvement in programs benefitting our
community to local media outlets.
3. Attended OU/Texas Red ricer celebrity softball event.
4. Confirmed and facilitated Karlene Stelling as the October speaker at the monthly membership meeting.
5. Requested Larry Wilhelm’s assistance on a donation tab/capability for the Legion website and facilitated
collaboration between Larry, Eric, and Terry to ensure the action item was completed.
Social Committee report for Executive Committee Discussion
- FVAC will coordinate a Frisco family and VSO event in June/July with Kartland
- USN/USMC Birthday celebration prior to November 21, 2019

VOTERS REGISTRATION
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2019
1 – Texas Primaries (including Collin & Denton Counties) will be March 3, 2020.
Therefore, we will need to conduct Voters Registration events in January 2020
for the new registered voters to be eligible to vote in the Primaries.
2 – We will conduct Voters Registration events for :
• Frisco Lakes North Amenity Center – twice.
• Frisco Lakes Main Amenity Center – once.
• Liberty High School – once.
• And any request we may have.
3 – Rick Redden has completed his certification in both Collin & Denton
Counties. Rick will be assisting me as “Get Out The Vote” Chair through June 30,
2020.
4 – We currently have 13 members on the “Get Out The Vote” Committee.

School Awards ReportNovember, 2019
School Awards Program
We are currently working with Corbell Elementary. In October we finished our first two subjects of Courage and Honor.
We are scheduled to don the next two subjects, Service and Leadership in January.
I visited and talked with 8th grade History teachers at Hunt Middle school, and am Hoping that they may be interested in allowing us to present our program there.

HONOR / COLOR GUARD UPDATE
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2019
1 – The Color Guard participated in 10 events this past month.
2 – The Color Guard has 2 events scheduled:
• November 20th - Mayor Cheney’s Business Roundtable.
• December 20th - DXL Frisco Bowl.
3 – Effective immediately, Larry Wilhelm will be scheduling and coordinating all
events as Captain of the Honor/Color Guard.
4 – I would like to thank everyone on the Color Guard for your participation and
support during the time I was scheduling the events.
