Nové mlýny

History

• Three reservoirs – Mušov reservoir, Věstonice reservoir and Nové mlýny reservoir

• Created in the 20th century• It is used for recreation, watering and as a

nature reservation.• The results were very drastic.• Lot of riparian forests were flooded and a

village named Mušov was flooded too.

Mušov

• Former village in the place of upper reservoir• 2nd century, Roman military settlement –

Hradisko=> archeology• Medival St Leonards church on a small island• Vilage forms bottom of the lake• Citizens moved to Pasohlávky

Dolní Věstonice

• Small village near the system of lakes.• It’s known for ice age archaeological sites. • Mammoth hunter used to live there. • There was also found the Venus of Dolní

Věstonice. – Ceramic statuette of a nude female. – Symbol of fertility. – The oldest known ceramic article in the world.

Věstonice)• Cycling, camping, fishing,yachting, windsurfing• Hydroelectricity – small water power station• Rare spieces of birds in CHKO
