1 RULES

Theregattawillbegovernedbytherulesasdefinedinthecurrent,TheRacingRulesofSailing(RRS),thePrescriptionsandtheSpecialRegulations(Part2)ofAustralianSailingandInternationalFinnAssociationClassRules.

2 ADVERTISING

2.1 AdvertisingispermittedasdefinedinWorldSailingregulation20.

2.2 BoatsmayberequiredtodisplayadvertisingchosenandsuppliedbytheOrganisingAuthority.

2.3 TheOrganisingAuthorityreservestherighttorefuseadvertisingbyaboatorcompetitorwhenitisinconflictwithaneventsponsororthelawsoftheQueenslandorAustralianGovernments.

3 ELIGIBILITYANDENTRY

3.1 TheregattaisopentoboatsoftheInternationalFinnClass.

3.2 CompetitorsmustbefinancialmembersofanaffiliatedInternationalFinnAssociationandofa

clubaffiliatedwiththeirnationalMYA.

3.3 Eligibleboatsmayenterviatheregattawebsiteatwww.rqys.com.au

3.4Ageeligibilityisdeterminedastheageatthebirthdayoftheyearoftheevent,2018.

4 FEES

Thefeesareasfollows:

4.1 TheregattaentryfeeisAUD$290.00perboatupuntil2359hoursonNovember29th2017.

4.2 ThefeeforentriesreceivedafterNovember29th2017willbeAUD$320.00.

4.3 Lateentrieswillbeaccepteduntil2359hoursonJanuary12th2018.

5.1 TenracesarescheduledfortheChampionship.

5.2 Tworacesperdayareplannedbacktoback.Additionalracesmaybesailedonanydayprovidedthattheregattadoesnotbecomemorethantworacesaheadofschedule.Nomorethanthreeraceswillbesailedinoneday.

5.3 Nowarningsignalshallbemadeafter1500hoursonSaturday20thJanuary2018.

6 MEASUREMENTANDREGISTRATION

6.1 EachboatshallproduceavalidmeasurementcertificateatRegistration.OlderboatsmaybegivendispensationfromthisrequirementatthediscretionoftheOrganisingAuthority.

6.2 Competitorsmayusetwomastsandthreesailsduringtheregatta,eachofwhichmustbedeclaredatregistration.

6.3 CompetitorsmusthaveasailnumberIssuedbyIFAA,whicheithermatchestothenumber,allocatedtothehullorthepersonalnumberoftheskipper.

6.4 AboatorequipmentmaybeinspectedatanytimeforcompliancewiththeClassRules,AustralianSailingSpecialRegulationsPart2andtheSailingInstructions.AboatcanbeinstructedbytheRaceCommitteetoproceedimmediatelytoadesignatedareaforinspection.

7 SAILINGINSTRUCTIONS

Thesailinginstructionswillbeavailableatregistration.

8 VENUEANDRACINGAREAS

9 THECOURSES

9.1 Windward-LeewardorTrapezoidcoursesaretobesailedwillbeasdescribedintheSailingInstructions.

9.2 Thetargettimeforracesisintendedbe60to70minutes.

10 CHANGEOFCREWANDEQUIPMENT

10.1 NochangestohelmsmanwillbeacceptedaftercloseofregistrationonMonday15thJanuary2018.

10.2 SubstitutionofdamagedorlostequipmentwillnotbeallowedunlessauthorisedinwritingbytheRaceCommittee.RequestsforsubstitutionshallbemadetotheRaceCommitteeinwritingatthefirstreasonableopportunityandthedamagedequipmentanditsreplacementshallbesubmittedforinspection.ThisdoesnotaffectthemastsandsailsinClause6.2

11 SCORING

11.1 Tenracesarescheduled.

11.2 Fiveracesarerequiredtobecompletedtoconstituteaseries.

11.3 Whenfiveorfewerraceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sseriesscorewillbethetotalofherracescores.

11.4 Whenfromsixtotenraceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sseriesscorewillbethetotalofherracescoresexcludingherworstscore.

11.5 AllDivisionprizeswillbeawardedbasedontherankingofcompetitorsintheoverallresults.

12 RADIOCOMMUNICATION

12.1 Exceptinanemergency,aboatshallnotmakevoiceordatatransmissionswhileracingandshallnotreceivevoiceordatacommunicationthatisnotavailabletoallboats.

13 RUBBISH

Norubbishistobedumpedintothewater.Allrubbishistobehandedtoofficialboatsortakenashore.

14 SUPPORTANDCOACHBOATS

14.1 Eachcoach/supportboatisrequiredtohaveaworkingVHFradiotunedintoafrequencydesignatedbytheRaceCommitteeandbeavailabletoactasarescueboatasdirectedbytheRaceCommitteeifrequired.

14.2 Coach/SupportBoatsarerequiredtoregister,thiswilloccuronthenominatedregistrationday.

15 PRIZES

15.1 Prizeswillbeawardedto1st,2ndand3rdoverall.

15.2 TheAustralianFinnAssociationPerpetualTrophyandthetitleofAustralianChampionwillbeawardedtothehighestplacedAustraliancompetitor.

15.3 Masterstrophieswillbeawardedtoeachcategory.

15.4 Under23prize/swillbeawarded.

15.5 OtherprizesmaybeawardedatthediscretionoftheOrganisingAuthority.

16 DISCLAIMEROFLIABILITY

Competitorsparticipateintheregattaentirelyattheirownrisk.Seerule4,DecisiontoRace.TheOrganizingAuthoritywillnotacceptanyliabilityformaterialdamageorpersonalinjuryordeathsustainedinconjunctionwithorpriorto,during,oraftertheregatta.

17 RISKWARNING

17.1 Itisrecommendedthatcompetitorsshouldconsiderwearinghelmetsasprotectionagainstheadstrikesfromtheboom.

18 INSURANCE

Eachparticipatingboatshallbeinsuredwithvalidthird-partyliabilityinsurancewithaminimumcoverofAUD$10,000,000.00.Allcompetitorswhocompletetheentryprocessaredeemedtohavemadeadeclarationthattheyholdsuchcover.

19 RIGHTSTOUSENAMEANDLIKENESS

Inparticipating,acompetitorautomaticallygrantstotheOrganisingAuthorities,theCoordinatingAuthoritiesandtheSponsors,therightinperpetuity,tomake,useandshow,fromtimetotimeandattheirdiscretion,anymotionpictures,stillpicturesandlive,tapedorfilmedtelevisionandotherreproductionsofhim/herduringtheperiodofthecompetitioninwhichthecompetitorparticipatesandinallmaterialrelatedtotheregattawithoutcompensation.

20 NOTICEOFAGM

TheIFAAAGMwilltakeplaceontheeveningofTuesday16thJanuary2018.Timingwillbeassoonaspracticalaftertheconclusionofsailing.
