kAT r I N G E B B E Katrin Gebbe (*1983) is a German film director and screenwriter based in Hamburg. Her filmmaking career began shooting experimental films whilst a student at the AKi (Academy of Visual Arts and Design) in the Netherlands and the SmfA (School of the museum of fine Arts) in boston, USA. After obtaining a bachelor’s Degree in Design in Visual Communications in 2006, she started her masters Degree in Directing at the Hamburg media School, graduating with honours in 2008. During this period she directed a number of award-winning short films, including her final exam piece SORES & SiRiN, which won the European Union’s young CiViS media Prize and qualified for the Academy Award for best live Action Short film. NOTHiNG bAD CAN HAPPEN is her first feature.

young TORE belongs to the Jesus freaks, a Christian punk movement rebelling

against established religion whilst at the same time following Jesus’s precepts of love.

One day, in what appears to be a miracle, Tore manages to repair a car which

has broken down and gets to know the driver, bENNO. before long, Tore moves

into a tent in benno’s garden and gradually becomes part of his family.

but benno can’t resist playing a cruel game, designed to test Tore’s faith. As the violence

become more and more extreme, Tore’s capacity for love is pushed to its limits.

Née en 1983, Katrin Gebbe, réalisatrice et scénariste allemande, vit à Hambourg. Elle débute sa carrière en réalisant des films expérimentaux à l’Académie des Arts Visuels et du Design (AKI) aux Pays-Bas, puis à l’École du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Boston (SMFA) aux États-Unis. En 2006, elle décroche une licence en design et communication visuelle, avant de poursuivre ses études par une maîtrise en réalisation à l’École des arts visuels de Hambourg. En octobre 2008, elle obtient son diplôme avec mention. Elle réalise des courts-métrages, notamment SORES & SIRIN son film de fin d’études, qui remporte l’European Young CIVIS Media Prize décerné par l’Union Européenne, et offre à Katrin Gebbe une nomination à l’Oscar du Meilleur court-métrage de fiction. NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN est son premier long métrage.

TORE appartient au groupe des Jesus Freaks, un mouvement punk chrétien entré en rébellion contre l’ordre religieux tout en suivant les préceptes de

l’amour enseignés par Jésus.Tore fait la connaissance de BENNO, en l’aidant à redémarrer sa voiture d’une manière quasi miraculeuse. Il emménage sous une tente dans le jardin de Benno et devient un membre de la famille. Cependant, Benno ne peut résister à la tentation de mettre à mal les convictions de Tore.

Le mal va mettre Tore à l’épreuve de la foi…
