2018 Camp Meeting

Evangelist—Bishop Timothy Clarke

Bishop Timothy J. Clarke is the visionary lead-er and Senior Pastor of First Church of God in Columbus, Ohio. Bishop Clarke was called to the ministry in January, 1974 and served as Associate Minister at First Church of God, in his hometown of Far Rockaway, New York, under his mentor, the late Dr. James E. Cray. Bishop Clarke began his pastorate at York Avenue Church of God (Warren, OH) in November, 1977; faithfully serving that congregation for four years.

In February, 1982, he was called to the Senior Pastorate of First Church of God (Columbus, OH) ). He was consecrated to the office of Bishop in September, 2001. In addition to his commitment and anointing as a pastor, Bishop Clarke willfully serves the Body of Christ as an evangelist and teacher. Bishop Clarke and his lovely wife, Lady Clytemnestra Lawson Clarke of Teaneck, NJ are the parents of two adult daughters.

Worship Leader—Chad Harlan

Chad is currently the Worship and Assimi-lation Pastor at the First Church of God in St. Joseph, Michigan and has been serving this great church since January of 2012.

Previously, he served the First Church of God in Marion, IL as Worship Pastor for 7 years. Chad has been serving the Church of God in worship ministry for over 20 years. Chad enjoys building relationships with and leading people into a meaningful time of worship. He along with his wife, Tracey were both ordained in July of 2005 and have had the pleasure of doing ministry together. They have been blessed with three great children: Katie (19), Hannah (16), and Ben (13) who keep us very busy with music and sports.

Tim & Joy Coppess Missionaries to Botswana

Project #42.10008

Ministry Focus They will work alongside the nation-

al and local leaders of the Church of

God, building relationships with the

pastors and people of each congregation as they work to establish a training

program for pastors and church leaders, including ongoing discipleship and

leadership development.

They will work with national leaders and local pastors to develop outreach ef-

forts throughout Botswana.

Tim’s mother reared him and his three older siblings in a single-parent home after the death of his 37-year-old father in a work accident. As his name-sake’s mother did in 2 Timothy 1:5, Tim’s mom reared the family in the church and modeled a life of faith to them. When he was eight years old, Tim accepted Jesus as Savior.

Tim’s mother taught her children to be lifelong learners, and each earned a teaching degree. In the Hoosier state, Tim taught science in public schools for twenty years. God then placed a pastoral call on Tim. As an ordained minis-ter, he shepherded University Park Church of God in Johnstown, Pennsylva-nia for three years.

Joy’s parents, Jim and Rosemary Williams, modeled faithful service to God and his church in pastorates in Illinois and Wisconsin and in positions at World Service, now part of Church of God Ministries. Joy accepted Jesus at the age of ten. She earned teaching degrees and taught children for more than twenty years in church-run day care centers. God then called Joy to join Tim in ministry.

Today they are connecting their passion for discipleship and leadership devel-opment with the mission of Global Strategy and the work of the Church of God in Botswana.

Now God has called Tim and Joy as missionaries to Botswana, Africa. The Church of God in Botswana is thriving and healthy. The church in Botswana is looking forward to stronger connections with the global community of the Church of God.

Pastor Jodi Bates Poorman

Worship Leader

Jodi was born and raised in the Church of God, and accepted Jesus at a very young age. After attending Mid-America Bible College, she began full-time ministry in 1997, and has served on staff at several Western PA churches. Jodi has exercised her calling by leading worship weekly, teaching classes, filling pulpits, as well as sharing at retreats, revivals, camp meetings, etc. She enjoys ministering with the help and support of her husband, Paul, and is currently serving as Worship Pastor at Fox St Church of God in Franklin, PA.

Jodi is passionate about walking with God, enjoys serving Him in ministry, and seeks to glorify Him in all things. Her desire is to help God’s people live a lifestyle of worship according to the powerful beauty of God’s Word, and then express that experience in their personal and corporate times of wor-ship. She loves to see believers cultivate an authentic relationship with the Lord, and longs to encourage that growth by clearly conveying the truth of God’s Word through sharing music, teaching, preaching, and building rela-tionships.

Rev. Handel Smith Rev. Handel Smith is serving as the Chief Domestic Ministries Officer for the US and Canada with Church of God Ministries in Anderson, Indiana. Rev. Smith has served the Church of God at the local and nation-al level for over 35 years. He is called to be a loving leader, helping people and organizations to reach their potential in God. He serves as Lead Pastor for the Celebration Church at Arrow Heights in Anderson, Indiana, supporting the national focus toward Urban Ministry Initiatives.

Rev. Smith’s extensive educational accomplishments include: • BA in public affairs and government from Anderson College (now Anderson University) • MS in business administration and an Executive Leadership Certificate in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services from Johns Hopkins University • Executive Leadership Certificate from the Wharton Business School • Executive Leadership Certificate from Rutgars Business School.

Rev. Handel Smith lives in Fishers, Indiana, and has been happily married to his wife Vickey for 35 years. They have three children, Darius, Josiah, Mari-ah. Rev. Smith and his wife are dedicated to the mission of the Church of God. It is Rev. Smith’s expressed desire to “be used by God to help [Church of God churches] continue to discover God’s purpose” and to “help people and organizations to reach their full potential in God.”

Handel’s favorite verse expresses well his heart for the Lord and his determi-nation to serve God with steadfast fruitfulness: “…His delight is in the Law of the Lord and on this Law he meditates day and night…He is like a tree plant-ed by streams of water which bears its fruit in season…whatever he does prospers…” (Psalm 1:2-3). In response to God’s direction in his life, Rev. Handel Smith is now in the pro-cess of writing a book called So You Call Yourself a Servant Leader which is to be released at the end of 2018. Here are some notable quotes from the book: •“If serving is below you, leadership is beyond you.” • “The questions isn’t if you have been called to serve but where.” • “A career is what you’re paid for, a calling is what you’re made for.”
