Hey Key Clubbers
We have noticed that the attendance at
our meetings seems to be decreasing. This
happens around the same time every year, and
this year is no different. We understand that
all of you lead busy lives and have many other
things to do, so we’d just like you to try your
best to make it to the meetings. Thanx.
Yours in caring service,
The Key Club Cabinet
Thanks to all those who came to the 3rd Annual KC Skate-a-Thon on 2/23 at Chelsea Piers and made it such a big success! Many eager Key Clubbers and friends were already waiting impatiently at the Chelsea Piers Sky Rink before the rink opened. Finally after the grand arrival of President Alan Chu, tickets were purchased, and the skate-a-thon promptly began at 11:30am. Most people arrived within the hour, except for a few late comers, including our Metropolitan Division friends at Port Richmond HS. Everyone was psyched and after hurrying to get skates, people hit the ice, in the name of helping raise money for the IDD fund. This is not to say that the skate-a-thon was all fundraising and no fun, because has there ever been a KC event that wasn’t fun?!? The ventilation was nice, the ice was smooth, the ice skates were good, KC provided free food, and the rink wasn’t crowded at all, so what more could anyone have asked for? Everyone was having a blast. =) At the end of the day, the results were tallied, and I’m happy to announce that a total of 55 Key Clubbers and friends showed up, raising a whopping $1120 and profiting $316 (We had to cover the costs of skate rental and admission) . <pat on the back for everyone> The top three contributors were as follows: (drumroll…) 1. Marc Weiskopf $120! 2. Lina Ng $50 3. Jacob Till $37 So now, I leave you with this ending note from our Lieutenant Governor-elect, William Wong: Round trip subway fare to the Sky Rink $3.00 Admission/donation to IDD $15.00 Slice of pizza, Nestea and stale nachos $6.25 1/4 dark chicken with two sides and soda dinner $6.76 Finally learning (somewhat) to skate with your friends PRICELESS

New Projects: We have been trying
to find new projects for the club to
participate in, but we have not had much
success. Many of you have already
given us suggestions, and we are
exploring those possibilities. If you
have any ideas for a new project,
please talk to the cabinet or the New

March
Calendar of Events:
March 17-19: New York District Convention in
Monticello, NY. Key Clubbers will learn a lot about Key
Club and have a great time as well.
Mondays and Tuesdays: Help out at the Police
Athletic League by assisting kids with their homework
and playing with them as well. This falls under the
Governor’s Project.
Thursdays: Meet up with fellow Momentum team
members after school on either day to go to the
Momentum sites, where you’ll prepare desserts for AIDS
patients. No culinary experience necessary.
Saturdays and Sundays: Unfortunately, Bowery
Mission has been postponed indefinitely.
Sundays: Come and volunteer at the Silver Lake
Nursing Home in Staten Island. You can help care for
the elderly and learn some really cool things and meet
really interesting people. (This is the divisional project)
If you would like to help Key Club raise
money, sell candy. Just contact your treasurer,
Cindy Lin, and she will give you a box of
candy to sell.. You don’ t have to pay for
the candy first, but you will get a 20 point
bonus if you do.
Locksmith Articles: Do you ever wonder who
writes those terrific articles in the Locksmith?
Do you ever wish that you could do it too? Well,
you can. You can submit an article about any of
your Key Club experiences (in the past people
have written about Convention, Walks, and
ongoing projects).
