You better get out here and play some golf and enjoy these summer conditions. Please do your part to help take care of the course. Don't throw your trash or cigarette butts on the course. From the Golf Course Wow, July Already!! I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. It is hard to believe we are already halfway through another year. But the heat and summer are in full swing. The crew has been and will be hard at work getting the course in tip top shape for the Men’s Invitational tournament at the end of the month. Not to leave out the fact that the course was in great shape for the ladies’ pea picker despite the winter we had and extended cooler spring. Starting off the month, we will have completed aerating the greens for the second time. Also,

we will continue our verticutting and top-dressing bi-weekly on the greens. Speaking of

greens, some may have noticed we enlarged a couple of greens. Also, we will be replacing

sod on a few of the tee boxes. We have also started our yearly battle with the annual summer

weeds, we will continue to do so until the growing season is over.

Swing hard in case you hit it!!

From the Tennis Courts Because of hot weather we have had to change our 5pm group and private lessons to 6pm and you would be surprised at the difference that one hour can make! Our members seem to be enjoying our Tuesday and Thursday members night out. We have lots of fun and get to meet new players. We have some students taking advantage of our summer break schedule and I am hoping to have more participants for July and August. We are also getting ready for our Annual Kids Kamp scheduled for July 20-23, ages 6 and up. For more information check with the office or you can always check with me. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call me or come by the courts. See ya on the courts, Fernando 903-288-6193 [email protected]

Notes from the Staff From the Club Manager Happy 4th of July everyone!!! We are starting the summer off with cooler temperatures and a decent amount of rain. Let’s hope this trend continues. The golf course is looking awesome, the new grass on the greens is coming in nicely and the fairways are the best they have been in 15 years. The pool is doing awesome with food and beverage outpacing last years numbers. Nathan has done a great job making sure all the chemicals are good and the pool is swept. 1409 It appears that at least 90% of the membership is back and returning to their roots again and to say the least – we are very happy about that. The kitchen will be fully staffed in a couple of days, but we are still a tad short in the service staff department - All in all, membership is still going strong, and we are hoping that 500 number comes soon! Many people are wondering what this is (35% replacement cost on liquor) on the bottom of all your receipt. TABC requires all retail outlets in Texas to maintain an escrow account of a minimum of 35% of your sales available to purchase beyond the order that was just placed. That way the wholesaler never has to worry about getting paid or stuck with the check that bounces. We have also had some questions about our gratuity (service charge) and what happens if you leave more on the check- when that happens write the name of the server on the check and those $ will go to that server. Congrats to our Lady Pea Picker winners! Championship Flight, Lori Daniels and Linda Davidson, 1st Flight, Deborah Rounsavall and Cindy Spier and 2nd Flight, Shannon Passmore and Jennifer Bennett. That’s all I have for now! Everyone have a Great July 4th!

In last month’s newsletter, I talked about heat exhaustion. It is also important to know the signs of heat stroke, because if heat stroke were to occur, your body will go into heat exhaustion first. Signs of heat stroke are fainting, fever of 105 or higher, confusion, disorientation, seizures, dizziness, nausea, unconsciousness and even coma. If heat stroke is suspected, it is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately. Stay safe and be careful outside this summer.
