TRANSCRIPT
Anoplophora glabripennis
The Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) is an invasive wood borer that is currently under quarantine in several US states. The only effective means to eliminate ALB is to remove and destroy infested trees. Already thousands of hardwood trees have been lost as federal and state agencies work to eradicate this pest.
A close relative, the citrus longhorned beetle, is not known to be in the US but has been identified as having a potential pathway for introduction.
